Fair Western and not really that much of a remake of the original classic film. Excellent cast tries their best, but not much to work with. Bright spot is the beautiful and talented Barabra Luna who steals the show. Decent entertainment for a rainy midnight.
The Deep (1970)Not so deep or maybe too deep
12 February 2020
Excellent cast with decent acting with an artsy flare to the whole thing. The question is, "Is the true symbolic theme of this film too deep to get," or is it " Not so deep at all." Only to be seen by curious fans of Wells or Mr. Harvey.
Crime in the Streets (1956)Prediction of things to come.....
9 February 2020
Decent film which more or less predicted the senseless violence to come in future generations. Shoestring budget makes the sets look cheap and fake, but the overall acting performances makeup for it. Some overboard acting and stereotyping, but an entertaining enough film.
Madison Avenue (1961)Smoking, Smoking and more Smoking
1 February 2020
Sophisticated, yet tired and faded looking Dane Andrews, chain smokes his way through a decent performance in a low-budget version of The Best of Everything. Without giving away anything, Dane still manages to charm the leading ladies and even the supporting cast of women as he climbs the ladder of success. Eddie Albert sort of overplays the eccentric milk tycoon, but in general, the cast does a good job in a fair film.
The Mule (2018)Clint Can Still Rock It
30 January 2020
Mr. Eastwood is almost 90, but in The Mule he shows he can still have threesomes, cuss with the badest of them, eat the best pork sandwich in the world and drive the Texas highways. Cute story with blood and guts as a sidebar. Clint is still "Da Man."
An Innocent Man (1989)Ending spoils almost perfect prison film

The Kitchen (2019)Women's Lib is murder, extortion, and pimping
15 January 2020
Weird and demented film with horrible sterotyped acting and one of the stupidest story plots ever made. Without giving the horrible plot away, the movie maker thinks it is romantic for a couple to murder and dismember together. Also, a disturbing sidebar to this trash bag movie is uts clearly ant-semantic overtones. Orthodox Jews are shown as hypocrites and gangsters. "You have brains and you got money" is told to one of the Jewish protagonists and plays into every antisemitic sterotype. Enough said. Pure waste that should be triple flushed down the toilet.
31 December 2019
Maybe the best episode in the series. Great on screen chemistry between the two main characters. The episode mixes social justice with romance and it turns out to be an outstanding mix. One of Gary Lockwood's best performances.
Hustlers (2019)Criminals passing for victims in fair film
15 December 2019
Flashy film with little substance. J-Lo shines in dismal role with no sympathy, even though the film makers lead you to believe that the male clients were pigs who deserved being ripped off by the oppressed strippers. Amazingly it has made over 150 million dollars, so the hustle continues from the strio club to the movie theater. Watch Joanne Woodward in the 1960s film, The Stripper and see a good film.
I Drink Your Blood (1970)Pass the barf bag

Villa Rides (1968)Mass murder is not funny....
9 December 2019
This film was bizarre in a sadistic way. Needless rape scene and various acts of brutal violence which didn't add to the film. Also, some weird humor in depicting various ways to kill numerous prisoners by saving bullets. Honestly, there was no one to root for in this movie as everyone involved was a sadistic mass murderer. Great cast is wasted in this trashy film. Watch Viva Zapa with Marlon Brando instead.
Rio Bravo (1959)Highly entertaining despite everything....
3 December 2019
I am a fan of John Wayne and Dean Martin, so I enjoyed this classic Western. However, in reality, the entire plot is silly and the "bad" guys are as stupid as can be. The acting from Brennan is way over the top and poor Ricky wasn't much of an actor. Dean Martin shines as does Duke, but Mr.Gonzalez-Gonzalez steals the show. Don't take this movie too seriously and it is very entertaining.
Slapstick of Another Kind (1982)Worst Movie Ever Made!
20 November 2019
What was Jerry Lewis thinking when he made this sick, demented, trash can of a movie. Has to be one of the worst films in Cinema History. The weird thing was that Lewis went on the Johnny Carson Show and plugged this mess. Watch Jerry in The Nutty Professor and flush this movie down the toilet where it belongs.
Only George Kennedy Stands Out
11 November 2019
Mediocre Western to say the least. Nothing new in regards to a plot except for some sadistic scenes of needless violence. Some really bad acting and overacting, especially from Joe Don Baker. George Kennedy is his usual good self and is the only thing worthwhile about this film. If it's storming or snowing outside, or you are home with the flu, this movie will help kill a few hours. Aside from that, not much to get excited about.
Le Mans (1971)Feels like 24-Hours
5 November 2019
Unless you are a hardcore racing fan, you will find this movie very slow moving and lacking in animation. I am a McQueen fan, so I got through it, but was never interested in seeing it again. The acting, what there is of it, is dull and listless and consists of many facial expressions and little dialogue. Lots of racing and racing and racing and still more racing. So, either race to see it or race out not to see it; it's up to you.
Gunfight at Comanche Creek (1963)Sad looking Murphy
20 October 2019
Audie Murphy looked really unhappy throughout this whole film. I assume he wasn't too thrilled making this third rate run of the mill Western. The constant and unneeded narration gave me a headache. I am a fan of Audie, so I was entertained by this film, but not by much.
Kevin can't stop talking.....
16 August 2019
This is a good film. Good acting and entertaining. The only drawback is Kevin Costner as the dog. He just can't stop talking. He is literally in every scene (as a dog of course) which is why he made this movie. Kev has proved in films of the past: Wyatt Earp, Water World, The Postman, etc) that he has to completely dominate the movie that he is in. I am a big fan of his early work, but he has changed his focus from the film to himself. Still, a good film; where is Old Yeller when you need him?
If Only It Was True.......
26 July 2019
Outstanding film with great acting by all involved; definetly some best acting Oscar nominations in the near future. Bruce Dern has a small part, but is so natural in it, that he briefly steals the film. If only the ending really happened........
Joe Hill (1971)Great Film!
10 July 2019
I saw this movie when I was thirteen years old with my father. We enjoyed it so much that we saw it again the next say. An unknown cast yet superbly acted. Released at a time when we were in a state of war (Viet Nam) and political unrest. Might be out-dated today, but then again, maybe not. Great film.
I Won't Play (1944)Chemistry Baby! Chemistry!
15 June 2019
Cute little World War II propaganda short. Dane Clark and Janis Paige had remarkable onscreen chemistry and it shows here and in Hollywood Canteen. Ms. Paige was not only gorgeous, but she was a talented singer and actress.
Reservoir Dogs (1992)Demented Trash Passing For Art
18 May 2019
Nothing redeeming or remotely entertaining about this film. It is basically made to disturb and shock the audience. The violence comes across as sexually perverted and demented. Torture is not entertaining unless you are a sadistic lunatic. Truthfully, this film is a sorry mess and the fact that so many people find it awesome is a sad commentary on our social environment. Maybe I just don't get it. But, if so, I have no regrets. In my humble opinion this is pure trash.
