Friends: The One with the Mugging (2003)
Not one of my favs.
I don't really enjoy the "Chandler is old and an intern" stuff. Maybe it was funny in 2003 though when this came out.
GLOW: Freaky Tuesday (2019)
To be honest, I was getting a bit concerned with season 3 and not feeling it as much as the first two. But I just watched this episode and loved it. Yay for fun, yay for wrestling!
Watched 15 mins and turned it off.
I felt like the way it was filmed at first was a bit confusing and looking to shock me. As soon as I looked up a few reviews and saw many people think it's biased I noticed it too. So I gave up and turned it off.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way (2019)
This show is going downhill.
I've always really enjoyed 90 Day Fiance, it had me hooked from the beginning: out of all the people in the world, these stories feature people who are stuck on ONE no matter how far and difficult.
Unfortunately, over time, the show has become to focused on each storyline. For example, if one couple's story is that their parents disprove that is all we will hear about. More and more scenes feel forced now.
What Id love to see more of: culture. What food and activities are new and different? What do they love and what is hard? I miss when they'd show the couple's doing normal things like grocery shopping.
I also wish they'd spend a bit more time explaining why each couple is going to the chosen country-many examples where I wish they'd explain why the spouse couldn't come the other way or how they chose.
Really fun, really long.
I feel like this is a very kid and teen-friendly movie. I enjoyed that it took place over Christmas!
Unfortunately it was a little too long, especially the last 40 minutes.
Sugar Rush (2018)
I can't believe how different my opinion is than the other reviews lol
I really enjoy this show and I'm super happy the second season is out. I just enjoy it for what it is: something fun and easy to watch on a rainy Saturday when I need a break! I love that each episode is a stand-alone so I can just watch at random.
I don't mind the host or judges at all. I love all the bright colours and fun, current themes for the challenges.
I realize there is more behind the scenes planning put into their creations but I don't care.
A Netflix win for me!
Welcome Home (2018)
Not awful. Kinda boring.
This is a very slow, predictable movie. There were some tense moments where I felt I was watching a thriller but also some long, dragged out scenes.
The three main characters are all played by gorgeous actors so that goes a long way in making the movie interesting to watch!
Black Mirror: Striking Vipers (2019)
This is Black Mirror.
Saw mixed reviews on this one. I liked it!
My boyfriend and I spent it awkwardly laughing, asking questions to each other about ethics, trying to guess what was going to happen. To me, this is what the show is all about.
Plus, the acting was superb as always.
Black Mirror: Hang the DJ (2017)
This one made me smile.
I absolutely loved this episode. No spoilers, but watch it!
The Perfection (2018)
Beginning of this movie: intriguing, not sure which way it's going to go. Enjoyed it despite the fact that I was distracted by how similar it felt to the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror.
Middle: disappointing with the approach it took but still okay.
End: kinda bored and over it.
If you're looking for something new on Netflix to watch before bed it's definitely worth a watch and has some cool ideas for a movie. Just don't expect greatness, lots of the cool ideas were wasted on lazy and silly writing.
Easy: Prodigal Daughter (2017)
Danielle Macdonald and Judy Greer are such a fit for this show. I enjoyed an episode with the style of Easy and it's look at family dynamics but without sex.
La maison des secrets (2018)
I gave this 5 stars because the ridiculousness of this movie crossed the line from bad thriller movie to actual comedy.
I fell asleep
"You know it's bad when we both laugh"- my boyfriend part way through. I usually scare easily but this movie didn't scare me and I laughed at a few things. It's literally all been done before. I was not scared of the made-in-China dollar store jewelry box.
I missed the very end as I fell asleep. I won't be re-watching.
The Prodigy (2019)
I was scared.
This movie was both messy and predictable but I was still intrigued and genuinely scared throughout the majority of it. Definitely worth a watch if you're into horror.
Creepy but not great.
This movie was successful in scaring me a bit and it was an okay concept so I gave it 5 stars.
Plain and simple: the writing just isn't very good. It could have been a decent movie with better writing. There wasn't enough character development for me to buy in to the story and the dialogue was sometimes poor.
This is a well done and unique movie. It's long, and feels long at times, but is worth watching and thinking about. Not much to say in this review other than give it a watch!
Not bad, worth a watch.
This is not a bad movie and if you're interested in true crime and a Netflix fan it's definitely worth watching. However, if you already know a lot about Ted Bundy, you may find it a bit boring. There is a lot of court room recreation etc and it is done well but many viewers of this movie will have watched the footage before.
As others have pointed out in reviews: at the end I felt like it was a decent movie but it was missing something. As someone else asked, what was the point? It would have been better if it had more focus, for example taking a closer look at his psychology or how he was caught. I did like seeing more of the perspective of Liz but I wish the movie stuck with that view a bit more.
The Basement (2018)
Would not recommend.
My boyfriend and I sometimes watch these mindless horror movies on Netflix when we just want something random on to unwind. Every once and awhile we find a good one. This was NOT the case. Even as a time killer, or boredom killer, this movie is not good.
You won't be scared, just grossed out by the gore maybe.
I gave it 5 stars simply because it had the potential to be okay, the two main actors were decent, and there is one twist.
Look Away (2018)
Could not finish.
It's very rare that my boyfriend and I start a movie and turn it off part way. However with this one we gave up.
I'm not sure if my TV was having an issue (it was fine with the other thing I watched on Netflix that day) but the dark scenes were hard to see clearly enough to understand.
We were bored.
The Clovehitch Killer (2018)
Great premise, some holes though.
The idea for the plot is a good one: teen boy in a small town wonders if father is involved in murders from years ago. Boy meets interesting girl and they bond over the mystery.
However, without giving spoilers, there were pieces at the end that I couldn't make sense of and it put a big damper in this movie for me.
Better than I expected!
This movie draws you in and keeps your attention.
Way better than most of the thrillers and mysteries you will find on Netflix and other streaming when looking for that perfect weeknight evening on the couch movie.
7.5, wish I could say better
This movie has one of those plots where things just seem to fall in to place for the protagonist. The lack of conflict in the plot, in contrast to the very complicated, horrible theme of the movie, made it seem off to me.
The romantic storyline was lacking in every way.
The pacing was strange.
However still a 7.5 because of the importance of the story, some good acting, and the tie in to today.
I watch this episode every Christmas season. The Mindy Project at its very best!
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)
It's a classic!
This is one of those movies that always takes me back! Silly and fun.
