Exorcist: The Beginning (2004)
Opinion of a true Exorcist fan!
I love the Exorcist movies. I love the book by William Peter Blatty. I think Father Merrin is a great character and I have been looking forward to this film for a very long time. I was not suprised by the attacks that this movie got by a lot of critics and I can honestly say I did not agree at all. I LIKED THIS MOVIE A LOT! I thought it was scary, well acted, very well paced, and very good overall. If you are an Exoricst fan then I recommend this movie! THe only real complaint I have is that it did not have the catchy exorcist theme music that is in parts one and three although it is used in the trailers. There are some very scary parts in this movie. I think Renny Harlin did a good job directing and I am very curious to see Paul Schrader's version if it ever gets released. So overall I would say Exorcist:The Begining is an 8/10
Tru Calling (2003)
pretty good...hope it lasts
I watched the premiere of Tru Calling last night and it was pretty good. I am not sure if this show will last because its time slot sucks(between survivor and friends) but I plan to watch it anyway( I will tape it because it is on opposite Survivor) The only thing I am concerned about is that if every episode is the same formula of Tru going back in time a day then the show will get old quickly. However, I will give it a shot and see what it will do. Eliza Dushku is great! I have been a fan of her work since she was in That Night. If you are a sci-fi/horror fan give Tru Calling a try before its too late!
Beautiful Thing (1996)
WOW!!!!!! This is the one of the best Gay movies ever made. The leads are fantastic and Linda Henry as the mother is oscar worthy. The story made me cry(and even made my straight friends cry too) A must see especially if you are just coming out of the closet yourself 4 STARS!!!
Girls Club (2002)
I thought this was really good!
I just watched the premiere of David Kelley's new show Girl's Club and I loved it. I think this show has a lot of potential it is a great cross between his other shows the practice and ally mcbeal mixed in with new elements. If you get a chance see it. I hope it lasts and viewers give it a chance. I miss Ally MCBeal greatly and I think this show will fill the void if it lasts!!!! The show has been getting some poor reviews from critics like in TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly, and Zap2it.com but I can honestly say that I was pleasently suprised when I tuned in to the series premiere.
Girls Club is about 3 best friends and law school grads who live and work together. Of course its not exactly realistic all the time but over all it does a good job and most importantly it is entertaining. The 3 leads(Gretchen Mol, Kathleen RObertson, and Chyler Leigh) are very good. GIVE GIRLS CLUB A CHANCE!!!!!!
Lost and Delirious (2001)
Dramatic and very good
Wow!!! This movie is about 2 lesbians who live together Paulie(Piper Perabo) and Tori(JEssica Pare)...When things get too serious and real Tori dumps her and denies her homosexuality and also denies that she had any feeligs for Paulie. Paulie then gets very depressed and tries to win her back but just makes herself more depressed and insane. This movie has some corny dialogue and over done scenes but overall its done very well and the preformances by the three leads especially Perabo are great.
Something similar happened to me while back. I had just come out of the closet and my first I fell in love with a guy but when it got too serious he denied his homosexuality and denied everything we did and totally changed. I never lost it as much as Piper Perabo's character but I still got a lot out of this movie!
Bless the Child (2000)
IF the writers had stuck to the book they would have had the next big horror movie on their hands
The Book Bless the Child by Cathy Cash Spellman is absolutly fabulous. REally Scary. THen there is the movie which bears almost no resemblance to the book. DIfferent Plot. Different Charecters, Different story. Why oh why would they do this!?!?!?!? If they had been faithful to the book this movie would have been one hell of a scary ride. If your in the mood for a good scare go straight to the book!
The $treet (2000)
Should have gotten a chance.
This show was pretty good and its too bad that FOX didn't give it a chance. I don't think it was on 2 months before they axed it. They should have changed its time slot because it was up against The West Wing. It was FOX's loss because this could have been the next big thing.
All-American Murder (1991)
not half bad
I saw this one because I am a big fan of Josie Bissett(Jane from Melrose Place) and I wanted to see her in a movie role so I went to the video store and was suprised that they had this. All-American Murder is pretty good. It's not fantastic but worth a look if your in the mood for a thriller.
Getting Personal (1998)
short lived show that was okay
THis short lived sitcom was okay. It was nothing that great. It made you laugh a few times but I can see why it didn't last. IT didn't help that FOX stuck it on Friday nights when no one watches TV. Getting Personal is a lot better than a lot of the awful sitcoms that make it to TV today
Psycho II (1983)
Hey this was pretty good!!!
I was really suprised when I saw this that "Psycho II" wasn't bad at all actually I thought this film was pretty good. Of course its nowhere near as good as the original butI don't think anything could have been as great. I think Psycho II deserved more of a chance because its not bad.
The Initiation (1984)
In the mood for a fun horror film? Then check this out!!!!
Allright so "The Initiation" isn't on the same level as "Carrie", "The Stepford Wives" or "Rosemary's Baby" but it is very good compared to other sorrority girl movies like "Blood Sisters." The Initiation is fun, fast paced, and has a great cast including Vera Miles (PSYCHO), Clu Gulager(A Nightmare on Elm Street 2) and Daphne Zuniga(Melrose Place) Not oscarworthy but deffinetly allright
Black Christmas (1974)
A TRUE FORGOTTEN GEM!!!!
I found a copy of this in the video store and took a chance. This might just look like another slasher but it predates Halloween, Friday the 13th, and The Elm Street Movies. It has the basic plot of the sorrority girls being killed one by one but Black Christmas is very smart, very funny, and very suspensful. Too bad no one has heard of it because it really deserves recognition. The cast is fantastic and includes Olivia Hussey(Romeo and Juliet),John Saxon(A Nightmare on Elm Street 1,3,and 7),Keir Dullea(2001), and Margot Kidder(Superman) KIdder steals the movie!!! IF your a horror fan look for it you wont be disspointed
Black Day Blue Night (1995)
This is one of those fun entertaining thrillers. I don't want to give anything away but if your in the mood this is one of those rare gems that no one has seen. Great plot twists, Great surprises. This one will keep you guessing. Mia Sara and Michelle Forbes are awesome!
Cries of Silence (1996)
I saw this movie a few years ago and it has really stuck with me. It is one of those very rare dramas that hook the viewer in from start to finish. I couldn't believe how good this movie was! Everyone I saw it with agreed! It's hard to find but if you do give it a try!
A different type of prime time soap
I am a huge fan of prime time soaps especially 90210, Melrose Place, and Titans. Pasadena is deffinetly an awesome addition but its different than the rest. I deffinetly did not expect to be drawn into a murder mystery. Pasadena is stuck in an awful time slot and ratings for the first 2 episodes sucked so it needs to start picking up viewers if there is any hope for it to stick around. Deffinetly give it a shot, you'll love it!!!!!
Great prime time soap that didn't get a chance!!!
Titans was a fantastic soap that aired in the fall of 2000 on NBC. NBC axed it after they only aired something like 10 episodes. NBC should have given it a chance. Titans probably would have become the next Dallas!. Titans had a great cast of soap opera alumnis including Victoria Principle(Dallas), Josie Davis(Beverly Hills 90210),Jack Wagner(Melrose Place), and Ingo Rademacher(General Hospital) I will miss Titans and I will miss not seeing the last few episodes because I would have loved to have known what would have happened.
The Red House (1947)
This movie is really good and really weird. I thought it would be a horror film and its really this weird thing I can't describe. Its deffinetly worth a look and it does fall into the "thriller" catagory. Nothing like this has been done since. The cast is great! Edward G. Robertson is fantastic(what else is new). Judith Anderson is also very good but her best movie is Rebecca by far. If you find it see it!!!
Bloody Murder (2000)
This movie is so bad that I am in shock!!
I can't believe this garbage was made! Everything about this movie is a rip-off of another movie(which does it a hell of a lot better) Even the box is a ripoff. THis movie is so bad I don't know what to say. The acting is awful! The Script is the worst ever!!! Just avoid it!!!!!!!!!! I am a huge horror fan and I love to see everything that comes out but after this I think I'm going to be alittle more selective
Mindwarp is just great! Its just one of those fun movies that are just entertaining from start to finish. IT's very original and has a quick pace that doesn't let up. The cast led by Bruce Campbell(Evil Dead), Angus Scrimm(Phantasm), and unknown Marta Alicia is great. I have no clue who she is, but Elizabeth Kent of plays the supporting role of Cordelia is awesome! If your a fan of gory sci-fi/horror than I totally recommend Mind Warp. It is hard to find and I first saw it when I was 11 and couldn't find a copy again until I was 17. This film should have gotten the attention it deserved! See it today!!!! JUST DON'T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY
Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
Deserves a Chance!!!
I am a huge fan of the original Exorcist(both the book and the movie) and this film did not deserve to be as panned as it was. I think its really good. It has an interesting plot and charecters. Linda Blair(Reagan), Kitty Winn(Sharon), and Max Von Sydow(Merrin) all reprise their roles from the first one. I think people expected to see a film like the first one but Exorcist 2 is nothing like the first one and completly stands on its own as its own film. Seriously I know a lot of people hated it, but a lot of people loved it. This film deserves for people to give it a chance! Exorcist 2 is very good!!!!
Had a lot of potential
I just saw this film and I have to say it has an interesting concept. However it is poorly done. It is still entertaining, but it would have been way better if it had a half way decent budget. I am a huge fan of Marilyn Burns(Texas Chainsaw Massacre,Helter Skelter) so thats why I was drawn to this film. The box is misleeding because she is only in the movie for a little in the begining and some at the end. SO see it at your own risk. The cheesy 80's rock songs will be in your head for days
Hell Night (1981)
This movie was a fun horror film It is nothing amazing, but it is really entertaining and worth a look especially if you are a Linda Blair fan(like me). This is one of the better teenage slasher films of the 80's.
