New Image From The Witcher Shows Henry Cavill Looking Like a Badass as Geralt

We’ve got a new image to share with you from Netflix’s highly anticipated fantasy series The Witcher. The new photo features Henry Cavill as Geralt, and he’s looking like a badass who’s ready to run into battle.

The first trailer that was released for this series was awesome, and I can’t wait to see how the story actually plays out. The role of Geralt is a character that Cavil fought to play. He wanted it bad, and I think the fans are happy that he was ultimately cast.

Toni Collette is a high-wire artist. Also loves "Roma"

by Nathaniel R

The Film Experience had the pleasure of a lengthy one-on-one chat with the inimitable Toni Collette yesterday after a screening and reception for her new horror classic Hereditary. We'll publish the whole interview in a few days but we thought we'd share a tidbit she thoughtfully e-mailed afterwards. You see during our chat, we had mentioned that they (the proverbial they) always say that actors are an insecure lot but this couldn't possibly be true of her. Wouldn't you have to be supremely confident about your gifts to attack high-wire material like Hereditary or the new miniseries Wanderlust? If you stop to think about it both of those provocative projects, one about multi-generational family trauma and the other about long-term intimacy and sexuality, essentially live or die based on the complexity of the central performance.

Our conversation took a detour after that so she sent us this note.

“Sex is complicated,” Leila, the hero of Hulu’s The Bisexual, tells her best friend Deniz in the show’s premiere episode. “Like, you strategize how you’re gonna get it, and then you anticipate it, and then once it’s finally happening don’t you wish you could just flash-forward because all the pressure’s on you to come and you’d rather just give head than worry about your own orgasm?”

“Nope, not at all,” Deniz replies.

“Well, good for you.”

Toni Collette Gives Moms a Voice Like No One Else and ‘Wanderlust’ Is Her Latest Stereotype-Free Performance

Toni Collette Gives Moms a Voice Like No One Else and ‘Wanderlust’ Is Her Latest Stereotype-Free Performance
Over the years, the warm, expressive face of Toni Collette has become a welcome fixture onscreen, particularly when it comes to portraying realistically multidimensional women. From “Little Miss Sunshine” to “United States of Tara” to “Hereditary,” Collette has become an expert at breaking gender molds and achieving complex, groundbreaking performances across a varied slate of stories and genres.

Collette’s newest accomplishment “Wanderlust” is no exception. Now streaming on Netflix, the show stars Collette as a British therapist named Joy who lives a perfectly comfortable life with her husband Alan (Steven Mackintosh) and three kids. When we meet Joy, she’s recovering from a recent bike accident that left her with a broken hip—but she’s too resilient and averse to inactivity to let that hold her back.

Alan, on the other hand, is more partial to routine. The clash is causing their sex life to dwindle, and both

The Very Best of Toni Collette

by Nathaniel R

A very happy birthday to Toni Collette today. We discussed this once on the blog a year or two ago but let's update our list of favorite Collette performances on her birthday since she was absolutely slaying the multiplex this past summer in the demonic horror flick Hereditary. She's currently up for a Gotham award for Best Actress for that role.

She's also starring in the new Netflix series Wanderlust about a married couple trying an open marriage though I haven't yet watched it (it's on the queue). My list of Toni's best work goes like so. Yours?

12 Little Miss Sunshine

Warm, worried, winning.

11 In Her Shoes

Not everything about this works but she's wonderful in it...

Harry Potter Actress Anna Shaffer Has Been Cast as Triss Merigold in Netflix's The Witcher Series

Yesterday we got our first look at Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt in Netflix’s The Witcher series. It was met with some mixed reactions. Some fans liked it while others had a some fun joking around with it.

Today we’ve got some new casting news to share with you regarding one of the lead female characters in the franchise. According to TV Line, Harry Potter actress Anna Shaffer has been cast in the role of Triss Merigold. I imagine that they will give the actress the red hair that the character is known for.

Triss is an ally of Geralt as well as a love interest for him. What do you think about Shaffer, who also stars in the British series Hollyoaks, landing the role of Triss.

The series also cast Eamon Farren (Twin Peaks: The Return) as Cahir, Joey Batey (Knightfall) as Jaskler, Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards) as Stregobor,

‘The Witcher’: Henry Cavill Has Long Hair and He’s Ready to Hunt Monsters in First Look at Netflix Series

‘The Witcher’: Henry Cavill Has Long Hair and He’s Ready to Hunt Monsters in First Look at Netflix Series
Having already reached some of the heights of the superhero and action film worlds, Henry Cavill is setting his sights on fantasy-inspired TV.

Netflix unveiled the first look at their upcoming adaptation of “The Witcher,” based on author Andrzej Sapkowski’s legendary book series and eventual video game franchise. It’s Cavill’s hair and makeup test, but that flowing silver hair, leather chestplate armor, and full swig of whatever grog is in that medieval canteen, are some pretty decent previews for what the rest of the series has in store.

The Witcher: Get Your First Look at Henry Cavill as Geralt Of Rivia!

Henry Cavill, is that you?

Netflix has unveiled the first look at the upcoming TV series, The Witcher, an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels.

The first look comes in the form of the show's leading man as Geralt Of Rivia, and we think it's fair to say that Cavill had to spend a lot of time in hair and make-up.

Have a look at the first photo from the production below.

"Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia (Cavill), a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts," reads the official logline.

"But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together."

‘Wanderlust’ Review: Toni Collette’s Dominance of 2018 Continues in a Smart Netflix Series That’s Honest About Sex

‘Wanderlust’ Review: Toni Collette’s Dominance of 2018 Continues in a Smart Netflix Series That’s Honest About Sex
Toni Collette is having an extraordinary year. The “Sixth Sense” and “United States of Tara” star is garnering well-deserved awards buzz for her “Hereditary” performance, and just as Oscar season ramps up, here comes another powerful reminder of her acting prowess. “Wanderlust” is a Netflix and BBC co-production that has nothing to do with David Wain’s 2012 film of the same name that starred Jennifer Aniston, Paul Rudd, and Justin Theroux, though this six-part drama series also studies an onscreen couple who’s looking to keep their relationship afloat.

Equal parts empathetic and searing, creator Nick Payne treats his characters honestly and, in turn, crafts a first season both heartening and tragic. Collette is its center, guiding the ship through turbulent emotional seas with assurance. There’s plenty to admire about “Wanderlust,” but it easily could have drifted into the vast unknown of Netflix’s content ocean without her precise,
