The Battle of Waterloo gets underway with George in the thick of it. Becky spies an opportunity to profit from the war by selling Rawdon's horses to the cowardly Jos.
Becky capitalizes on the civilian panic in Brussels by selling a frightened Jos her horses to allow him to escape but Amelia refuses to go with him. The French are defeated at Waterloo with Dobbin distinguishing himself but there are many casualties and George's father puts Amelia in an impossible situation. Returning to England Becky learns that the late Matilda Crawley has cut Rawdon and herself out of her will and starts to make contingency plans for themselves and their son Rawley, courtesy of the powerful Lord Steyne.
