Erin's in the middle of a trial, when the defendant announces he has retained new counsel who is Erin's ex husband and he proceeds to poke holes in her case. She learns he is dating his co-counsel who is 25. Frank is approached by a woman who says her son was killed and the killer was not caught. Frank leans about the truth of her son's death and needs to decide whether to tell her, knowing it will devastate her. Danny investigates the death of a woman and he focuses on her husband because he thinks the man has a motive.

The judge's ruling to suppress the confession as inadmissible would have been easily overturned on appeal. The US Supreme Court ruled in in Rhode Island v. Innis, (446 U.S. 291) that a spontaneous statement such as the one the officer described is admissible so long as it was not as a result of police questions. See more
