‘Bluff City Law’ Not Getting Back Order, Will Finish Initial Run On NBC

  • Deadline
NBC has opted not to order additional episodes from new series Bluff City Law. The legal family drama starring Jimmy Smits will complete its initial 10-episode order, remaining in its high-profile Monday 10 Pm time slot. While the network has made no decision beyond that, a Season 2 renewal appears highly unlikely.

The news comes after four softly rated airings of Bluff City Law, which had struggled to hold onto its Voice lead-in in the Monday 10 Pm slot, slipping to a Live+Same Day low of 3.4 million viewers and a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating this week. Without big delayed viewing bumps, Bluff City Law faced long odds for survival.

It is a change of fortune for the legal drama, which got an early vote of confidence from NBC in August when the network ordered six additional scripts.

This marks the second decision on a new fall series for NBC, which earlier this week

Bluff City Law Season 1 Episode 1 Review: Change the World

Legal procedurals have been part of the television landscape since the '50s.

They're usually not my cup of tea, but then there's Bluff City Law.

There's a lot to love about this series including it's impressive pedigree, but the most compelling aspect is how the overall story makes you feel.

On Bluff City Law Season 1 Episode 1, we're introduced to a cast of characters who are immediately engaging and funny and bring the stories of hope to life.

Bluff City Law was co-created by Dean Georgaris, the guy behind that other favorite series of mine, the now-canceled The Brave, and Michael Aguilar, a producer on The Departed -- one of the best movies ever.

ABC Passes On Mike Vogel-Fronted Sci-Fi Pilot ‘Triangle’

  • Deadline
Exclusive: Another pilot has vanished into the Bermuda Triangle after ABC has opted not to proceed with sci-fi drama Triangle, starring The Brave’s Mike Vogel.

The pass by the Disney-owned broadcaster comes eight months after Triangle was ordered to pilot in January. A late international shoot in New Zealand and extensive post-production delayed the pickup decision until after the May upfronts.

“I want to wait and make a final decision when the editing of the show is completed and it has all special effects,” ABC programming chief Karey Burke told Deadline at TCA last month.

Written and executive produced by Jon Harmon Feldman and Sonny Postiglione (Knightfall), the show, from ABC Studios and Feldman and Jennifer Gwartz’s’s Random Hill posited the question: What if the Bermuda Triangle was not a watery grave in the middle of the ocean but a land lost in time that has

Demetrius Grosse, who guest-starred during Season 1 of ABC’s The Rookie, says it was a “very challenging time” between when Afton Williamson publicly ID’d him in her allegations of sexual harassment and when an independent investigation this week concluded that no one named in the actress’ complaints acted “in an unlawful manner or demonstrate[d] behavior inappropriate for the workplace.”

In an Aug. 4 Instagram post, after TVLine reported that she would not be returning for Season 2, Williamson alleged that she had experienced “sexual harassment from a recurring guest star,” whom she later identified as Grosse. She claimed that she was

‘Bluff City Law’ Gets Backup Script Order By NBC

  • Deadline
NBC has commissioned six additional scripts from new legal drama Bluff City Law starring Jimmy Smits.

It is a very early vote of confidence for the series, which is now filming its second episode, based on the strength of the completed 5-6 scripts. Usually backup scripts are ordered around the premiere or after a few airings.

Bluff City Law, from The Brave creator Dean Georgaris and producer David Janollari, has an initial order for 10 episodes, three less than the standard 13-episode broadcast pickups, as networks continue to tinker with order sizes to accommodate their scheduling needs.

Co-created by Georgaris and Michael Aguilar and written by Georgaris, Bluff City Law, whose additional script order was first reported by THR, is a character-driven drama that follows the lawyers of an elite Memphis firm that specializes in the most controversial landmark civil rights cases. Led by legendary lawyer Elijah Strait (Smits) and his brilliant daughter,

Blood & Treasure Series Premiere Review: The Curse of Cleopatra

This adventure series has "fun summer watch" written all over it.

A former FBI agent and his art-thief ex reluctantly team up to solve the mystery of the tomb of Antony and Cleopatra on Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 1 and Blood & Treasure Season 1 Episode 2.

Who would have thought that the male lead of Valor and a female supporting character from The Brave, both of which lost the military-series battle to Seal Team a season ago, would have such great chemistry together?

Matt Barr showed promise in the former while Sofia Pernas was largely buried in the latter.

But Blood & Treasure promises to have breakout roles for both, assuming that viewers have learned that summer television fare, even on broadcast networks, is worth their time.

Barr plays Danny McNamara, who Pernas's character Lexi Vaziri correctly labeled a Boy Scout. He had been an FBI agent, but moved to the private sector,
