David Haller, is a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he's confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

When David is in session with Dr. Kissinger, he tells Dr. Kissinger he tied a cord and hung himself. Dr. Kissinger tells David no cord was found which confuses David. David's personalities were trying to stop him from killing himself and it can easily be explained that one of his personalities took over and disposed of the cord. See more
