‘Real Housewives’ Live: Molly Shannon, Vanessa Bayer and More Are Divine — Listen
Every once in awhile, the universe delivers a piece of comedy so brilliant, so unexpected, and so perfectly cast that you have to thank the gods of mass entertainment. Or you could just thank Andy Cohen — same difference. The mastermind behind Bravo’s wildly popular “Real Housewives” franchise has outdone himself yet again, this time with a live reading of an episode of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” with all the housewives played by some of the funniest women on the planet. Titled “Radio Andy Theater,” the show was recorded at the Peppermint Club in West Hollywood on September 13 before premiering on Cohen’s Sirius Xm radio show earlier this week.

For his pitch perfect rendition, Cohen assembled a veritable feast of comediennes in what has got to be one of the finest pieces of casting since “The Florida Project.” The cast includes Molly Shannon as Sonja Morgan

Apple Rolls Out New IPhone 11 Pro, With Filmmakers And Photographers In Focus

  • Deadline
Apple today introduced the first iPhone ever to bear the name “Pro,” a new model designed for high-end users — notably filmmakers and photographers.

The new iPhone 11 Pro will cost $999 and the “Max” edition of it is $1,099. They will accompany a more basic iPhone 11, which retails at $699.

Apple previously has made only desktops and laptops under the “Pro” moniker. Many film industry vets have used the Pro equipment and apps like Final Cut Pro to make films (David Fincher and the Coen brothers were among early champions), though its popularity in pro circles has waned a bit in recent years.

Timed to the September 20 on-sale date of the phones, the company will reopen its flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue. The site across from the Plaza Hotel has been doubled in size and redesigned.

The new devices were shown off at the end of a nearly two-hour Apple product event in Cupertino,

‘The Lighthouse’ Official Trailer: Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson Lose Their Damn Minds

‘The Lighthouse’ Official Trailer: Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson Lose Their Damn Minds
Following a new batch of rave reviews from the Toronto International Film Festival, A24 has gone ahead and premiered the new official trailer for Robert Eggers’ psychodrama “The Lighthouse.” The intimate and maddening two-hander stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as lighthouse keepers who slowly lose their minds while living in isolation. The black-and-white drama is Eggers’ first directorial effort since breaking out four years ago with his Sundance sensation “The Witch,” which is often cited as one of the best horror efforts of the decade.

In his A- review out of the Cannes Film Festival, IndieWire’s chief critic Eric Kohn raved, “’The Lighthouse’ is a stunning showcase for Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe to unleash their wildest extremes, by positioning them at the center of a two-hander about a descent into madness in the middle of nowhere. It’s the best movie about bad roommates ever made.”

Top 10 early-bird Best Supporting Actor Oscar predictions: Brad Pitt (‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’) is No. 1 for now
Frontrunners are already forming for the Oscar Best Supporting Actor race, according to early predictions at Gold Derby. While most films in contention have not yet been released, enough teaser trailers are out there, ranging from “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and “The Irishman” to “Joker” and “Ford v Ferrari” to provide some sense of what at least feels like a worthy contender. We’ve confirmed category placements with studios or campaigners, but — as awards season veterans know — such labels can change later. And once the fall film fests commence, the standings will likely rapidly shift.

Here are the current top 10 supporting actor picks on the Gold Derby site, in order, as of Aug. 13:

1. Brad Pitt (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”): Pitt doesn’t have a designated category yet, so he appears both as a lead and supporting candidate on the Gold Derby site. But fans

‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ Film Review: Silly Sequel Will Engage Kids, If Not Their Parents

‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ Film Review: Silly Sequel Will Engage Kids, If Not Their Parents
Before “The Angry Birds Movie 2” first screened in London, Sony proudly showed off the trailer for the new “Jumanji” movie (“The Next Level”) which the studio is obviously hoping will be its big Christmas hit. That film’s very existence, re-animated by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart et al, proves you can never write off an old franchise or an even older video game — and there’s every chance that the further adventures of the flightless cartoon birds and their green pig adversaries can feather the nest for Sony this summer.

Not that “Angry Birds 2” is a very good film. Let’s not go crazy here. Compared to Disney/Pixar, the work here is rudimentary in terms of artistry, character and script. There are hardly any gags in the dialogue, not even terrible bird-based puns. And as for any wholesome or heart-warming family message, forget it. But that in itself may prove somewhat refreshing,

Balance, Not Symmetry review – Biffy Clyro art-school drama topples into cliche

Bria Vinaite again proves her star quality in this earnest coming-of-age film co-scripted by Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil

There are moments you may have to bite your lip very hard to stifle harrumphs of exasperation watching this drifty on-the-the-fly Glaswegian indie drama about a young woman grieving for her dad and struggling to finish her art-school graduation show. Written by director Jamie Adams in collaboration with Biffy Clyro frontman Simon Neil – whose band provides the soundtrack – the whole thing has the tentative, incomplete feel of an improv actors’ project.

BlacKkKlansman’s Laura Harrier gives a blank performance as Caitlin, an American-Scot who grew up in New York but is studying art in Glasgow. The film begins with her dad’s funeral, after which Caitlin hastily heads back to college where she shares a flat with her fun-loving best friend Hannah (luminous Bria Vinaite from The Florida Project). In the studio,

Bria Vinaite on Life After ‘The Florida Project’: ‘I Didn’t Know What to Do With Myself’

Bria Vinaite on Life After ‘The Florida Project’: ‘I Didn’t Know What to Do With Myself’
Before Bria Vinaite landed her breakout role in Sean Baker’s Oscar-nominated 2017 film “The Florida Project,” she was selling marijuana-themed outerwear on Instagram. Raised in Brooklyn and born in Lithuania, she had the specific kind of no-nonsense vibe Baker was seeking for the role of Halley, a single mother and sex worker living with her daughter in a rundown Florida motel next to Disney World. Along with Brooklynn Prince, another Baker discovery who played Halley’s daughter, Moonee, Vinaite earned unadulterated praise for her raw and charismatic performance. Once the film entered the awards race and picked up a slew of accolades, Vinaite’s life changed drastically, launching a burgeoning acting career for which she had very little preparation.

“I got home after four months on the press tour and I was so depressed,” the 26-year-old recently told The Independent. “I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t have a hundred people taking my picture anymore?

‘The Lighthouse’ Trailer: Willem Dafoe & Robert Pattinson Drive Each Other To Madness In A24 Thriller
A24 has debuted a new trailer for The Lighthouse, Robert Eggers’ drama starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. Watch it above.

The horror-fantasy film, which was shot on black-and-white 35mm film, is co-written by Eggers and his brother, Max. It will open in the U.S. on October 18.

The Lighthouse was named best movie at Cannes’ Critics Week and Directors’ Fortnight by the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci). The win represented A24’s first major prize at the Riviera fest. Soon after the film premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight sidebar, it was talked up as an end-of-year awards contender.

Dafoe has had two consecutive Oscar nominations for acting, last year for his lead turn as Vincent Van Gogh in At Eternity’s Gate and the year before for his supporting performance as a cantankerous-but-warm-hearted hotel manager in The Florida Project. Pattinson has evolved past his Twilight days to garner

Exclusive: Laura Harrier and Bria Vinaite on musical drama Balance Not Symmetry

Jamie Adams returns after a rather short break, with Balance, Not Symmetry, a film made in collaboration with Scottish band Biffy Clyro. This tale, which focuses in on grief and friendship, all played out to a soundtrack supplied by the aforementioned artists, features two of the most exciting prospects in cinema, in Laura Harrier (BlacKKKlansman) and Bria Vinaite (The Florida Project).

To mark the film’s releases we sat down with the two talented young women, to discuss what it was about this project that enticed them in. They also talk about whether they’re artistically inclined in real life, and on previous projects, and how much they owe to the films they’ve starred in already – with an emphasis on Spider-Man for Harrier. But we look to the future too, and in particular the film Bios – where Harrier takes a leading role alongside none other than Tom Hanks. To

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Stays True to Kid-Friendly Roots with PG-13 Rating

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Stays True to Kid-Friendly Roots with PG-13 Rating
Back in April, producer and The Shape of Water director Guillermo del Toro said he planned on director Andr&#233 &#216vredal's upcoming horror flick Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark to snag a PG-13 rating. I thought that seemed a little far-fetched at the time, but today we have word that Del Toro and crew have managed to score just that. Yes, the MPAA has just announced that Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has officially been rated PG-13 for "terror/violence, disturbing images, thematic elements, language including racial epithets, and brief sexual references."

"Racial epithets"? Huh. Anyway, once again, Guillermo del Toro told us back in April that this family-friendly rating is what he was aiming for, saying this.

"The anticipated rating is PG-13. I wanted to have standees that said, 'You have to be this tall to see this movie,' but somebody beat us to it,
