Making an already overt humored show more obvious
10 August 2018 | by sheemananaSee all my reviews

This episode was innovative through the lack of dialogue, but the "acting" should have compensated for this void. I was already under the opinion that this show was very overt with its humor, which can work for the few animal-based jokes each episode, but often they try to explain jokes to a point where it's just "beating a dead horse". The facial expressions and body language in this mute episode would obviously need to be the focal point, but they were far too over the top. I understand that this is an animated show (and not very detailed drawings at that --> not a slight, just an observation) but if people were to act like that in non-animated shows, they would be ridiculed for over-dramatization. I was initially excited when I noticed the unique potential of this episode, but that quickly faded into boredom. I have enjoyed many episodes in this show, especially the darker ones that feel more like a drama than a comedy, but I think the BH crew needs to learn a bit of subtlety in their comedy.

Side note: this episode is a complete rip-off of the Rock Bottom SpongeBob episode...
