Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Launches Branded Content Division
Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions has partnered with Test Pattern Media to launch a branded content division.

The new initiative comes after Hazy Mill’s recent branch into branded content, winning awards for their Orbitz campaign, and partnering with other clients such as Lucasfilm, Amazon, Showtime, Starbucks, Capital One, TNT, TBS, Lincoln, P&g, and Google. Together, the two production companies will work with brands and agencies to create series-based content and advertisements.

“In the new world of branded content, we believe we can engage savvy audiences in a way where they forget they’re being sold to,” Hayes said in a statement. “Our experience working in all genres of entertainment including drama, comedy, game, and documentary will translate very well into creating not only one-off commercials but also Brand dedicated series – which will keep the audience engaged and interested in the brand over time.”

Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions is stepping up its efforts in the branded content arena, expanding the company’s new branded content division by partnering with Los Angeles-based creative studio Test Pattern Media.

Hazy Mills about a year ago launched the division, which has produced an award-winning spot for Orbitz as well as campaigns for TNT and TBS, among others. Michael Grant Terry, who has worked with Test Pattern on multiple projects, has been tapped to head Hazy Mills’ branded content division.

Operating together as a full-service branded content initiative, Hazy Mills and Test Pattern Media’s combined clients include Lucasfilm, Amazon, Showtime, Starbucks, Orbitz, Capital One, TNT, TBS, Lincoln, P&g and Google.

Madison Lawlor and Mia Serafino (Shameless) have been cast as the leads of Juicy Stories, E!’s hourlong dramedy pilot inspired by Juicy Couture founders Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, from Sex and the City alums Michael Patrick King and Amy B. Harris, Warner Horizon Scripted TV and Universal Cable Productions.

Rebel Wilson to produce and star in comic book adaptation Crowded

Image Comics has announced that Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) has snapped up the film rights to Crowded, the forthoming comic book series by Christopher Sebela (Harley Quinn), Ro Stein and Ted Brandt (Captain Marvel), Triona Farrell (Runaways), and Cardinal Rae (Bingo Love) with a view to producing and starring in a big screen adaptation.

Crowded “explores the seedy implications of today’s technology with the gut-wrenching resonance of a Black Mirror episode”. The official solicitation for the series reads:

Jeremy Irons joins HBO’s Watchmen pilot

Jeremy Irons has been tapped to take on a lead role in HBO’s Damon Lindelof’s Watchmen pilot. Irons joins Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens and Andrew Howard on the previously announced cast.

For now, HBO is keeping tight-lipped on any character details, but the rumour has it that the veteran British actor could play a lord of a British manor.

Lindelof’s version of the Alan Moore series is set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws. “Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original trailblazing graphic novel while attempting to break ground of its own”.

Lindelof has written the script and executive produces alongside Tom Spezialy and Nicole Kassell (The Leftovers). Kassell will also direct the pilot.

Ten minutes in the future, the world runs on an economy of job shares and apps, including Reapr: a crowdfunding platform to fund assassinations. Scriptation Completes Series B Funding Round, Led By Rob Morrow

Exclusive: Scriptation, an app marketed as an easy way for creatives to add notes to drafts of film and TV scripts in a paperless process, has completed a round of funding that was led by Billions star and director Rob Morrow. Scriptation CEO Steven Vitolo said that Morrow joined other backers in this funding round who include Titanic cinematographer Russell Carpenter, Modern Family director Michael Spiller, and writer/director Gail Lerner, whose work includes Will & Grace. black-ish creator Kenya Barris invested in a previous funding round. There are about a dozen investors in the company now.

Vitolo spent over a decade as a script supervisor on shows like Crowded and Hot in Cleveland, and wrote scripts for those shows as well as black-ish.
