Not a Racist Cast
26 September 2014 | by Steve_LudovicoSee all my reviews

I wanted to write this in reply to Nael Amer "Vomie". I am sorry sir but you have gravely misinterpreted the meaning of the Fez's that say Arab on them. It was not intended as a slur on people from that part of the world and does not suggest they go to or endorse strip clubs. It is a Shriners Fez worn by men that belong to the Shriners organization It has nothing to do with the cast and crew of Boardwalk Empire being racist. Keep in mind this is a period piece and the period it is covering is full of racism, sexism, and all sorts of vices that were common and widely accepted, for the time.

Is a director or actor Racist because they are apart of something that involves racism? I think it is generally a reinforcement of how wrong those ideas or attitudes are when they are displayed in a format like this. When you see the kkk openly attack African Americans and demand justice under the law it is a slap in the face to the viewer because we know it is morally wrong. Every time I watch a show or movie like this it is a reminder of how far we have come.
