The bottom drops out of the series with this episode
1 August 2013 | by chuckcurtis8See all my reviews

"Tuscan Red" represents an abrupt change of character development and plotting. Suddenly we're introduced to characters who seem to come out of a file drawer marked "Cultural Clichés". We have a Pathologist who is mixed race Japanese and Jewish. However, to put him completely over the top, he's also a good old boy who chews and spits. An Indian character can't just marry outside his culture, he has to marry an African-American. Then Cady gets drunk and sprays Branch with a garden hose. The plot involves fracking, which seems to be the "go to" plot device when you're out of ideas. Somehow a fracking well outside the reservation leaks methane into the reservation water. That's a geological impossibility from what I've read. I'm a fan of the series, but this episode seemed to be out of sync with the excellent character development and plotting of the earlier episodes.
