Sex & Nudity

  • One very short & darkly dimmed sex scene, no nudity is shown.
  • A woman is shown with her bare back towards the camera from her waist up. From her movements it is implied that she is having sex. No nudity is shown.
  • The main characters husband is almost only shown naked from the waste up with intentional focus on his breast and nipples. Most scenes containing men consistently show them half naked with their breasts and nipples visible. sometimes it is in a sexual context, other times it seems to just show naked men.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shown being held by a man while another man cuts into his stomach with a knife, revealing what appears to be large, moving snake-like organs.
  • A woman is viciously attacked by a large animal and dragged away. She can be heard screaming in torment. Her severed body part is found and eventually her dead body is discovered.
  • A woman is attacked by a mutated animal. She fights with it for several moments before it kills her by ripping her lower jaw off. Her mutilated body is visible for several seconds.
  • An alien-like creature punches a woman in the head.Blood is shown spewing.
  • A man is shown convulsing repeatedly in an ambulance with blood spurting out of his mouth.
  • A disturbing and decaying corpse is seen on some sort of throne. It's body is shown to be cut in half, entirely missing the lower portion, exposing some of the ribcage. This is shown in disturbing and excruciating detail.
  • Mentions of off screen self harm.
  • One occasion of self harm on screen. (Character stabs arm with scalpel to gain a blood sample.)
  • On screen depictions of self harm scarring.


  • Infrequent swearing.
  • 18 uses of "fuck" and some milder language used infrequently throughout the film.

  • The mutated bear scene is quite disturbing.

  • A couple has sex (it's extramarital for them both): She's on top, shown from behind from the waist up
  • A humanoid alien figure is seen naked for quite some time. It is not detailed however the alien's vulva is seen in a couple shots.

Violence & Gore

  • A soldier's stomach is cut open by his fellow soldiers. His intestines (or something else) are moving around inside his body. (Graphic but quick)
  • A woman is attacked by a mutated bear. She is dragged down a stairway, scratched and bitten repeatedly, and finally dies when she has her jaw ripped off and neck bitten into. (very graphic/upsetting and goes on for about 30 seconds)
  • A woman is attacked by a large mutated animal. Her face is ripped open exposing her skeletal frame from the side.
  • A man blows himself up with a phosphorus grenade. His body is shown on fire. His remains are shown afterward.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • One main character has cancer, driving her to reckless self destruction.
  • During the final encounter with the Mimic, Lena is pressed against a door in a manner cinematically representative of rape.
  • Self harm and self destruction are major themes for the movie.
