Did You Know?

The series is based in southern California, the main plot of the first season revolves around heroin dealing and heroin use. As a recovering heroin addict I know a lot more about street heroin than most people. In the west, including California, there is no powder heroin for sale on the street at all, no powder heroin is sold by street dealers if someone did my guess is they would be killed by other dealers. The only heroin available for street consumption is black tar heroin, it is sticky like a glob and less refined than powder heroin. The heroin packaging mills depicted would be accurate if the series took place in the east, new york and Philadelphia especially. In the Midwest kilos are usually not cut and enveloped into branded bags, the heroin is bought by dealers and street level dealers bag larger amounts into tenths of a gram and are sold in very small bags without the stamp east coast dealers use.
