"Aloft" is a film that never takes flight. Its ethereal meditation and ponderous tone is at the expense of character development. The result is a long-winded, inaccessible drama lacking impetus. It's difficult for the viewer to make an emotional connection with any of the people with a plot that catches up later in the film.
