Muppets Series From Josh Gad, Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis Scrapped at Disney Plus
Disney Plus has abandoned plans for a scripted Muppets series that was being worked on by Josh Gad, Adam Horowitz, and Edward Kitsis.

Though the trio’s planned take on the beloved Jim Henson characters had never been formally announced, sources confirm that it had been in the works for months at the streaming service. According to an individual with knowledge of the decision, Gad, Horowitz, and Kitsis decided to walk away from the series after new leadership at Muppets Studios opted to take the series in a different direction.

The news comes less than three weeks after Disney announced at D23 that they were moving forward on a short-form unscripted Muppets series titled “Muppets Now.” It will be the first series featuring the characters since ABC’s failed attempt to launch the scripted mockumentary series “The Muppets” back in 2016. Prior to that, the feature films “The Muppets” and “Muppets Most Wanted

New Muppets Reboot Coming From Disney

Gavin Jasper Aug 23, 2019

Muppets Now is the new Muppet show and it's unscripted! Yaaaaaaaaaay!!!

For years, the Muppets have been Disney’s unused puzzle piece. Despite being such a timeless and beloved corner of entertainment, Disney hasn’t been able to figure out how to best use Kermit and the rest in modern times. The 2011 movie The Muppets brought them back in style, but relied heavily on pressing nostalgia buttons. Its 2014 follow-up Muppets Most Wanted didn’t quite hit the same highs and so we got an ABC series, again called The Muppets, which focused on Kermit and Piggy’s post-break-up in a semi-improvisational, Larry Sanders Show, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm style. While it had its strong points, there was a lot of creative meddling and the show was unable to find its footing, and so it ended after one season.

The Muppet Babies reboot appears to be doing well,

‘The Muppets’ Short-Form Series Coming to Disney Plus

  • Variety
Kermit, Miss Piggy and co. are coming to Disney Plus.

A short-form unscripted series starring the goofy puppets is set to premiere on the forthcoming Disney streaming service in 2020. The news was announced at the Disney Plus D23 Expo event.

The announcement came with a brief teaser of Kermit and Joe the Legal Weasel arguing over how many details about the series they were allowed to divulge.

“You are not authorized to offer a peak, sneak or otherwise,” said the stubborn weasel in the brief clip. “I know how you frogs are, you’re always looking to leap into the next big thing.”

‘Muppets Now’ Short-Form Series to Debut on Disney+ in 2020
Disney+ has ordered a new short-form Muppets series titled “Muppets Now,” the streamer announced at the D23 expo on Friday.

The “unscripted” series is set to premiere on the service in 2020 and will feature celebrity guests. No other details were shared.

The project is just the latest entry in the “Muppets” franchise, which most recently included the 2012 film “The Muppets” and its sequel “Muppets Most Wanted,” as well as a short-lived ABC series also titled “The Muppets.”

ABC’s take on “The Muppets” was a mockumentary-style series with a more adult-oriented slant on the Jim Henson characters. The premise of the show was that Kermit the Frog split from longtime love interest Miss Piggy, and the pair was forced to continue to work together on the fictional late-night talk show “Up Late With Miss Piggy.”

Bill Prady and Bob Kushell co-created the series,

‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ Film Review: Old-School Family Adventure Strikes It Rich

‘Dora and the Lost City of Gold’ Film Review: Old-School Family Adventure Strikes It Rich
When “Dora the Explorer” made her debut on Nickelodeon in 2000, she not only became the first animated Latina character in a leading role but also birthed what would become the longest-running American TV show that featured characters speaking Spanish. (The show is still running on Nickelodeon with new episodes).

Nineteen years later, Dora gets the live-action treatment in “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” and despite an awkward first act, the film harkens back to the family-adventure genre that today’s parents can recall from their own childhoods.

Dora and her parents (Michael Peña and Eva Longoria) have lived in the jungles of South America for all of Dora’s life. The jungle is her home, her school and her playground, and like many young teenagers she runs through her life documenting everything with a GoPro strapped on, speaking to an invisible audience about the wonders of exploring the rain forest.

Paramount has unveiled the trailer for “Dora and the Lost City of Gold,” which discerning Dora diehards will recognize as the live-action adaptation of “Dora the Explorer.” Giving off an “Indiana Jones” vibe, it unfortunately doesn’t feature a flesh-and-blood rendering of the “Why not both?” meme we all know and love. Jump Street / Men in Black Crossover Was Impossible, Won't Ever Happen

Mib 23 was actually going to happen there for awhile. The movie would have been a crossover between two of Sony's biggest ongoing franchises, Men in Black and 21 Jump Street. The project picked up a lot of steam, with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill attached to star. It stalled, and soon Sony was simply rebooting Men in Black instead with a spin-off movie. Now, it looks like the ambitious project will never get off the ground.

When Men In Black: International was announced, the writing was pretty much on the wall. It was taking too much manpower to get a crossover going with all intended parties. So now, fans are getting an Mib spin-off that stays within the current big screen canon but focuses on new Agents played by Chris Hemsworth and his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson.

Some were still holding out hope that Mib 23 was going to happen.

Meaa strikes new deal for crew working on international features

The Us majors and other international producers who plan to shoot feature films in Australia will no longer have to negotiate fees for each production with local crews.

The Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance has struck an in-principle deal with the six Hollywood studios for a template agreement covering crew working on features budgeted above $15 million.

Meaa members also voted to extend the template agreement to other offshore film producers.

Legendary Entertainment’s Godzilla vs. Kong, which was lured to Queensland by the federal government’s Location Incentive Program, will probably be the first production to take advantage of the new agreement.

The four-year deal, which will run until June 30 2022, includes a guaranteed 2 per cent annual increase in minimum rates which will be separate from any margins negotiated for individuals. For those employed on a daily basis the minimum rate is

Blu-ray Review – Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 3

Brad Cook reviews Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 3…

Synopsis:

Pixar has scooped up the shorts they’ve released since 2012 for a new Blu-ray release called Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 3. They’ve included 13 short films – a mix of theatrical releases and shorts issued elsewhere – along with a pair of brief featurettes and an introduction and a commentary track for each short. A DVD and a code for a digital copy are included too.

I’m glad Pixar resurrected that old tradition of showing short cartoons before the main feature. Over the years, they’ve been little several-minute bundles of delight that set the mood for the film, rather than dropping us straight from a trailer for Attack of the Giant CGI Monsters into the movie.

The shorts typically show up on the home video releases of the movies they’ve accompanied, but Pixar has been good over the years about

Bao Headlines Pixar Short Films Collection, Vol. 3

Alec Bojalad Nov 14, 2018

Pixar has released a third collection of its acclaimed short films that features Bao, Sanjay’s Super Team, and more.

My bao is a disaster.

Pixar is hosting a group of journalists at its Emeryville, California campus to celebrate the release of Pixar Short Films Collection, Vol. 3. The volume of short films that precede Pixar main features includes the ode to family and Chinese culinary tradition, Bao, from director Domee Shi. That’s why we’re all currently trying our hand at making the classic Shanghai bao dumpling.

Creating bao requires extreme digital dexterity, as the corners of the dough must be pinched into a star pattern and then twisted to protect the yummy filling inside. My sausage fingers have a hard time with the pinching process so I just elect to begin twisting as much as I can. The final product, or what I believe to

Netflix has released a new trailer for director Andy Serkis upcoming adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. The movie is called Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle and it’s said to be a much darker take on the classic story. It actually looks like it could be a great film!

The story follows the upbringing of the human child Mowgli, raised by a wolf pack in the jungles of India. As he learns the often harsh rules of the jungle, under the tutelage of a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera, Mowgli becomes accepted by the animals of the jungle as one of their own. All but one: the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. But there may be greater dangers lurking in the jungle, as Mowgli comes face to face with his human origins.

The movie also features an all-star ensemble cast that includes Christian Bale as the cunning panther,

Lady Gaga, After 10 Years as a Fame Monster, Has Stopped Playing Characters and Started Acting
No star is born out of nowhere, which means that every actor has a first notable on-screen appearance. For Stefani Germanotta, that was the meaty role of “Girl at Swimming Pool #2,” featured in “The Sopranos” Season 3 Episode 9, “The Telltale Moozadell,” airing April 22, 2001. The 15-year-old future Mother Monster doesn’t even get a full line of dialogue in the scene, and it’s hardly an indicator of what was to come for one of the world’s biggest pop stars. But “The Sopranos” is worth highlighting because on Lady Gaga’s resume, it’s one of the very few acting credits where she’s not essentially playing herself.

IMDb credits her with nearly 40 appearances as an actor, but the majority of these are tied to her music career and Gaga persona, including cameos in “Muppets Most Wanted” and “The Simpsons.” Which is understandable when you’re a performer releasing studio albums and touring constantly,
