‘Angry Birds 2’ Flies Into Soft Box Office as Summer Winds Down

  • The Wrap
Sony’s “The Angry Birds Movie 2” is hitting theaters nationwide today ahead of a late summer slate that includes Universal’s R-rated kid comedy “Good Boys” and a sequel to the shark-infested “47 Meters Down.”

Originally set for a Wednesday release, Sony moved “Angry Birds 2” to a Tuesday opening last week in an effort to bring in families in the last week before the majority of schools are back in session. Through six days, independent projections predict an opening of $22-25 million, while Sony is projecting a 6-day opening in the mid-teens from 3,800 screens.

Either result would be a big step down from the $38 million 3-day opening earned by the first “Angry Birds Movie” in May 2016, going on to make $107 million domestic and $357 million worldwide against a $73 million budget. The sequel has an only slightly smaller budget at $65 million and will face tough competition from family audiences with “The Lion King

Can ‘Good Boys’ Get Adults to See Comedies in Theaters Again?

  • Variety
Funny hasn’t equaled money this year at the nation’s multiplexes. Comedy fans seem to have largely turned to streaming fare, including Netflix romcoms, stand-up specials — and endless rewatches of “The Office.”

Universal is hoping to reverse this trend with the R-rated “Good Boys,” written by “The Office” veterans Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky and directed by Stupnitsky. It’s the story of three foul-mouthed sixth-grade boys who decide to skip school one day in order to prepare for a kissing party. Jacob Tremblay’s character borrows his father’s drone to spy on girls, a plan which backfires spectacularly.

In March, the studio returned to SXSW, as it did with “Neighbors” in 2014 and “Blockers” in 2018, to preview the nearly-completed “Good Boys.” Like last year’s “Eighth Grade,” it’s being promoted to adults, even thought it’s about 12-year-olds and the complexities of their friendship. So kids the

Spider-Man: Far From Home features some of our favorite returning Marvel stars, including Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Jacob Batalon (Ned), and Zendaya (Mj). But there are also some new, insanely attractive faces gracing the big screen with their presence. One of the standout hunks is the character Brad Davis, who competes with Peter for Mj's attention. So, who plays him? Say hello to 32-year-old Remy Hii.

In the comics, Brad is the star quarterback at Empire State University where he and Mj date. But in the McU, he's introduced as a suave ladies' man, amassing countless eye-rolls and side-eyes from Peter. Dan Aykroyd movies: 15 greatest films, ranked worst to best, include ‘Ghostbusters,’ ‘The Blues Brothers,’ ‘Driving Miss Daisy’
On July 1, 2019, actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd will celebrate his 67th birthday as his native Canada celebrates its 152nd. The actor has had a long and steady career ever since he first began doing improvisational comedy with the famed Second City troupe in both their Chicago and Toronto theaters.

Fame came to Aykoyd when he was hired for what seemed like a low expectations comedy/variety show NBC was beginning for late Saturday evenings. “Saturday Night Live” became a bit of a phenomenon launching all the original “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” (as the cast was called) into stardom. Aykroyd along with Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtin, Laraine Newman and Garrett Morris suddenly found themselves among the most talked about television stars working in the business.

Zac Efron's Head Is Definitely in the Game, Judging by His Net Worth

It might seem hard to believe, but it's been over a decade since we were first introduced to Zac Efron as a floppy-haired teen dream in a little Disney Channel movie called High School Musical. As we all know very well, Zac's fame has only skyrocketed since then, turning him from everyone's teenage crush into one of Hollywood's favorite leading men. His net worth reflects that fantastic success, but you might be surprised at some of the details.

According to Seventeen, Efron's current net worth is around $24 million. In the early days of Zac's career, he actually didn't make a ton of money off the movies that made him famous. His paycheck for the first two High School Musical movies aren't public knowledge, but since they were relatively low-budget, made-for-tv movies, it's likely that he wasn't exactly rolling in the dough. Even his feature film musical debut in 2007's Hairspray

Long Shot – Review

So, you’re looking for a different kind of film this weekend, maybe a light snack about the glorious super-powered feast that most of the world devoured (and is still savoring) just a few days ago. Perhaps a “rom-com” may be just the thing, maybe featuring an Oscar winner? So, who’s her co-star? How about a “hook-up” with today’s unofficial “stoner” comedy star? Why am I asking so many questions? But just where would this unlikely duo connect? The world of global politics, of course! Still, most folks would consider the chance of these two “getting busy” a very Long Shot But hey, anything can happen at the movies.

We first meet one half of the romantic duo, Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen) as he finishes up some truly dangerous undercover research on an expose he’s writing for a scrappy, almost underground weekly newspaper. Ah, but his journalistic

Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Projected For Good But Not Great Opening

It’s hard to fault the marketing for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which delivered one of the best trailers of 2018 back in July. But while the Legendary production is expected to bring in a respectable number of filmgoers when it comes out in just over seven weeks from now, the current projections still leave a little to be desired.

According to BoxOfficePro, long range tracking has Michael Dougherty’s blockbuster headed for a domestic debut in the range of $40-$60 million. Again, that’s nothing to be sniffed at, but seeing how 2014’s Godzilla saw an opening weekend haul of over $90 million, it’s hard to ignore the significant decline. That being said, the last MonsterVerse release, Kong: Skull Island, also took in $60 million domestically when it debuted in 2017. So perhaps an opening in this ballpark is just the norm for giant monster movies these days.

Another factor to take into account is competition.
