The favourite Indian action franchise is back. This time Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) and Ali (Uday Chopra) return to match their wits with the enigmatic clown thief, Sahir (Aamir Khan), who has the city of Chicago in his thrall. In this battle of revenge and dignity, the lines blur and the conventional definition of good and bad don't apply. Watch a spectacle that will thrill you and move you.Written by

I cannot honestly cannot say that I was hyped up for this film. I have watched both Dhoom 1 and Dhoom 2 multiple times but they were honestly decent to good action movies at best but considering it was Bollywood that made them, and Bollywood is not known for action movies, the movies were held in high regard. Regardless the movies had funny lines, the action scenes were fantastic (by bollywood standards) and the cop-thief chase premise was always fun. The main song of the franchise also has a good catch. I liked both films equally to be honest, though Hrithik (Mr. A) made a stronger villain than John Abraham, he was also ruined by the love story angle (imo).
I was never very into the movies to begin with, but when I heard that Aamir Khan was starring in it, I was hooked to see it. I mean how can a Aamir Khan movie be bad? He is a great actor and always stars in Classics and I was assured he would up the status of the Dhoom series. And I was right Aamir Khan saves this movie, with his awesome performance and dialogue delivery, sadly he is not allowed a lot of lines in the film he they would have really improved this movie. Abhishek is fine in his role as Jai Dixit, nothing that much different from the old movies, Udah Chopra is OK, I was never a fan of the comedy he did, but they were a part of the humor but they toned it down for some reason here. And everyone else plays minor roles, yes Katrina has next to no lines in the movie, it is atrocious, it is sad to see how they just wasted her here. The minor characters serve their purpose, but Jackie Shroff in particular had an extremely good cameo.
Now the story overall is good, Aamir Khan's backstory and retribution mainly, the cop-thief chase premise is not as fun as it was in the old movies, and the heists are well disappointing. Well actually they were show you the actual heist or a proper lay out or execution of the plans, it is just chase sequences, cool and well shot chase sequences but that is all you get. The twist was fine, but I saw it coming a few minutes earlier, but after the revelation the movie improved for me so that's a plus.
The songs are good, the main theme of the series, Bande Hain Hum Woh and Malang are some of my favorite, the Aamir Khan-Katrina circus dances are fun but they get boring fast, and the fact that they are performing in circus actually ruins the mood, plus the love story does not get any time to develop at all.
Overall Dhoom 3 is fine entertainer and a decent action movie, with cool stunt sequences, OK plot and a strong performance from Aamir Khan and satisfactory performances from the rest of the cast. It is a good movie by bollywood standards, and if you ever enjoyed the series or like Aamir Khan then you will find some entertainment in Dhoom 3. Overall 7/10.
