Spider-Man: Far From Home - Exclusive Mysterio Featurette

Gavin Jasper Sep 26, 2019

Check out some new details about Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home

If there’s one thing Spider-Man: Far From Home deserves credit for, it’s figuring out how to put Mysterio on the big screen. He’s a true classic from the Ditko/Lee days, but of all the live-action Spider-Man movies over the years, he’s the tenth major villain to show up (12th if you count Shocker and Mac Gargan). They had to wait a long time to put him in a movie because he’s such a tricky concept and challenging design.

Even comic fans would point out that he looked like a big doofus with that fishbowl head. In an industry that gave us Space Cloud Galactus, the very idea of Mysterio being faithful to the comics and not being too ridiculous wasn't likely.

It’s not just the look,

When Spider-Man: Far From Home was released in the midst of a post-Endgame reverie this summer, there was a rumor going around online that Sony and Disney's latest web-slinging teamup had to cross the billion dollar mark at the box office for the two studios' partnership to continue. The Soundtrack Volumes 1 & 2 for The Jim Henson Company’s fantasy adventure series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance are being released digitally on Friday, August 30 (the same day as the series launch on Netflix), and on CD and vinyl in the coming months, exclusively through Music.Film Recordings. Volume 1 of the soundtrack features original music by composer Daniel Pemberton, while Volume 2 consists of tracks by Pemberton and by Samuel Sim. “I approached the music the same way I approached the filming and the puppetry,” explains executive producer and director Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk). “I wanted somebody to come on this journey that would be willing to take big risks. I wanted something that was almost tribal. I wanted to hear the strings being plucked and the skin wrapped over the drum. At the same time, I wanted somebody who could write beautiful melodies, understood music,

How Netflix’s ‘Dark Crystal’ Production Team Connected Prequel Series to the Original
The Dark Crystal,” the family-oriented fantasy drama directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz, was groundbreaking when Universal released it in 1982. Now a cult classic, it offered an original blend of Brothers Grimm-style fairy-tale magic and state-of-the-art animatronic puppetry.

Now, 37 years later, Netflix and the Jim Henson Co. revive the world dreamed up by Oz and Henson with “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” a 10-episode prequel series directed by Louis Leterrier (“Now You See Me”) that revisits planet Thra and its mysterious inhabitants via tactile design, puppetry and hand-crafted effects.

“We wanted to make sure what we were doing felt right,” says Toby Froud, design supervisor on “Age of Resistance,” which drops Aug. 30. Froud has a long history with “Dark Crystal”: His father, Brian Froud, was the acclaimed concept artist on the original film, and Froud himself starred as the baby kidnapped by David Bowie in Oz and Henson’s follow-up project,

Jesse Eisenberg Knows His Characters Are Arrogant, But They’re Never the Joke

Jesse Eisenberg Knows His Characters Are Arrogant, But They’re Never the Joke
Jesse Eisenberg excels at playing jittery, insecure young men, but he’ll never pursue those roles as a punchline. “People describe me as playing characters that are shy or introverted,” he said during a recent lunch in Chelsea. “These are things that are also natural to me as a person. I grew up introverted and shy in a smart family, and so when I read scripts that commodify and mock that…” He trailed off and grinned. “Is ‘kryptonite’ the right word?”

It was an ironic choice for the guy who played Lex Luthor in “Batman v. Superman,” a role that Eisenberg said he tackled for the villain’s longstanding pop-culture pedigree. It was better than some of the other paycheck gigs sent his way. “There was a movie that I heard was being developed at a major studio, which was about a guy who comes up with a math equation to make the perfect girlfriend,

Dark Crystal: What Makes Age of Resistance Unique TV

Kayti Burt Jul 23, 2019

We had a chance to hear from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance's Lisa Henson, Louis Leterrier, and Taron Egerton at Sdcc.

It might seem silly to call The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance something uniquely different when the upcoming Netflix series, which just screened its first episode at San Diego Comic-Con, is the continuation of a feature film story that premiered more than 35 years ago. However, for those who attended the Sdcc panel and the press conference that preceded it, it quickly became clear that the utter uniqueness of this venture is exactly what drew so many talented artists, of many specialties, to it.

"As an actor, it's always fascinating and exciting when you get to be involved with something that's different, or that you haven't been involved with before, whether that be from a character perspective or something like this. There's nothing else out there like this,
