Will Christopher Eccleston's Malekith Ever Return in a Future Marvel Movie?

  • MovieWeb
There is always debate when ranking Marvel films, but most agree on one thing: Thor: The Dark World is near the bottom. The actor behind the film's villain Malekith, Christopher Eccleston, has never been shy to voice his agreement. It seems he's continued to be a fan of the franchise, however, and had great things to say about the new creative team behind Thor: Love and Thunder.

When asked about his experience on Thor: The Dark World at New York Comic Con, Eccleston reiterated his earlier statements about having to be "in make-up for six, seven hours every day," which was something they did not tell him would be required up front. In fact, the Doctor Who actor is unrecognizable in his Malekith get-up, so Marvel really missed their opportunity to show off their prolific star. Something we'd love to see them remedy somewhere in their extensive slate. He had

Spider-Man: Far From Home Producer Says Morbius Looks Great So Far

During the press rounds for Spider-Man: Far From Home, producer Amy Pascal praised Jared Leto and said that the upcoming Morbius looks “really great.” Given that the only footage we’ve seen so far though has been a couple of still images and a brief video, the jury’s still most definitely out on this one after the last time the Academy Award-winning actor played a pale comic book character.

Sony may have leased their web-slinging crown jewel back to Marvel Studios after the disappointment of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but that hasn’t stopped the studio from moving forward with their own series of spinoffs featuring Spidey’s rogues’ gallery. The Tom Hardy-led Venom was the first entry in their cinematic universe and made an impressive $855 million at the box office, despite less-than-enthusiastic reviews.

When asked about Morbius, Pascal responded by saying “Jared is fantastic. Who could be better?

Sony-Backed ‘Alex Rider’ Producer Eleventh Hour Films Options British Mosque Drama ‘This Green and Pleasant Land’ For TV

Sony-backed British producer Eleventh Hour Films is adapting Ayisha Malik’s The Casual Vacancy-esque novel This Green and Pleasant Land for television.

The company has optioned the novel, which was published this week by Bonnier Zaffre, with a view for a small-screen remake.

The book follows the story of the only Muslim family in middle-class white Britain, whose lives are turned upside-down following a dying wish for a mosque to be built in the village. It is described by the publishers as “a witty mediation on race politics, what it means to be British, and the complexities of personal identity”.

It tells the story of Bilal Hasham and his wife Mariam, who have lived contented, quiet lives in the sleepy rural village of Babbel’s End. Now all that is about to change. On her deathbed, Bilal’s mother reaches for his hand. Instead of whispering her final prayers,

‘Morbius’: Tyrese Gibson Posts Pic From Set Of Spider-Man Spinoff

Today we have the first photo from the set of Morbius, courtesy of Tyrese Gibson. Check out the shot of him with director Daniel Espinosa below.

Jared Leto stars in the Spider-Man Universe spinoff based on the Marvel Comics antihero Morbius the Living Vampire. The Oscar winner and Suicide Squad alum plays Dr. Michael Morbius, a biochemist who attempts to cure a fatal blood disease by injecting himself with a treatment serum derived from bats. In becoming Morbius, he has all the qualities of a vampire — including a taste for human blood.

Adria Arjona, Jared Harris and Gibson also star in the Sony Pictures film, which is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2020.

In the comics, Martine (Arjona) is engaged to Morbius and becomes a potential victim to his bloodlust as he grapples with the transformation that has made him a weird laboratory version of the supernatural vampires of lore.

Jared Leto Takes Flight in New Set Photos and Video From Morbius The Living Vampire

Some more photos and a video from the set of Sony’s film adaptation of Marvel’s Morbius The Living Vampire have popped up online and they show Jared Leto as Morbius and as you’ll see he’s flying around in, what looks to be, an orange prison jumpsuit. I also included photos giving us our first look at Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft.

I just want to see what Leto’s version of Morbius will look like in full-blown vampire mode! But, these are a little cooler than the last photos that were released.

Uncharted Movie Loses Director Shawn Levy

The Uncharted movie has faced yet another major setback. Director Shawn Levy has officially departed the project, meaning that Sony now needs to find a new director. That's at the very least. With a new director, that could mean a new script, or at the very least a rewrite of what they already have, and multiple other delays. This is just one more step backward for a project that has been stuck firmly in the depths of the land known as development hell for some time now.

According to a new report, 20th Century Fox has given the official green light to a video game-focused movie titled Free Guy, which is set to star Ryan Reynolds in the lead. Shawn Levy has been tapped to direct and, with that, he's officially left Uncharted. He is just the latest in a long line of filmmakers who have spent time with the
