Gene Siskel: Himself - Host

  • Gene Siskel : Sequels probably give more bad experiences in movie theaters than just about anything that the movie industry produces.

  • Gene Siskel : The subject today is going to be sequels. The subject today is going to be sequels.

    [Roger laughs]

Gene Siskel : See, wasn't that less interesting the second time? And that's the story with sequels. Sequels, if there ever were a tough part of the job of being a film critic - and I don't think there are any tough parts of this job - seeing Hollywood sequels would have to be the roughest. We go in with such high expectations, critics and regular people too. Typically, because they're remaking a good film. But then all we see are the crass business decisions that lead to an inferior product. So we walk out of the theater, critics and regular people, feeling ripped off... suckered again.
