Anatomy of a Kill (2007)

*** (out of 4)

Adam Green and John Carl Buechler are the main attraction to this featurette from the HATCHET disc. This one takes a look at one kill and breaks down how it was created. If you've seen the film then you remember the death where Victor Crowley grabs a girl from the back of the head and uses his hands to rip her head in half. Every aspect of this scene is broken down by the director and make up artist as they try to explain how to do this without using CGI and without the use of a major edit. We get to hear from Green who demonstrates how he wanted the scene to look and then we hear from Buechler who talks about how the effect was done. From here we hear from Kane Hodder who talks about the stunt involved in pulling the scene off. Fans of the film and this scene will enjoy the detail given to really show you what all it takes to pull something like this off. The scene is certainly a very memorable one so obviously they selected the right one to analyze.
