First The Gentlemen Clip Has McConaughey Caught in a Weed Gold Rush

  • MovieWeb
Stx Films has revealed a brand new clip from The Gentlemen. This is the latest from writer/director Guy Ritchie, who has spent the past handful of years directing massive blockbusters, such as King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and Disney's live-action Aladdin remake. The latter of which went on to gross more than $1 billion at the global box office. Here, however, he's scaled things back quite a bit for what looks to be a clever crime flick, which sees Matthew McConaughey as a big-time pot dealer looking to get out of the business.

The clip opens with Matthew McConaughey's character standing in the middle of a green room filled with marijuana plants. Matthew McConaughey says several names for weed, in perhaps the way only he can, before explaining that he sees selling weed as the new gold rush. It then gets into the heart of the matter, which

‘The Gentlemen’ Clip Shows Guy Ritchie Returning to His Criminal Ways

Stx Films has released the first clip from Guy Ritchie’s upcoming crime movie The Gentlemen. The film follows an American expat (Matthew McConaughey) who has built a profitable marijuana business in London and is looking to cash out, which proves difficult with everyone in the underworld wanting a piece of the action. In this clip, McConaughey explains why he wants out of the weed business and while he can’t go legit himself. It looks fun and serves as a reminder that Ritchie hasn’t made a crime movie since 2008’s RocknRolla, so this looks like a good …

The Gentlemen UK Premiere Interviews: Hugh Grant, Michelle Dockery, Guy Ritchie & more on the crime caper

Guy Ritchie’s particular brand of cockney crime caper came to the capital yesterday for the UK Premiere of The Gentlemen. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery, Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, Colin Farrell, and Hugh Grant.

It has been a few years since the big screen saw the likes of Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Revolver and Rocknrolla, but a dalliance with Disney hasn’t dampened the director’s cinematic panache. We spoke to Ritchie, Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery and find out the origin of Hugh Grant’s cockney accent.

Colin Hart and Zehra Phelan braved the cold to red carpet the stars and ask the questions.

The Gentlemen is out in Wednesday, 1st January 2020.

‘The Gentlemen’ Trailer: Guy Ritchie Returns to Crime, With Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam

‘The Gentlemen’ Trailer: Guy Ritchie Returns to Crime, With Matthew McConaughey and Charlie Hunnam
For fans of Guy Ritchie’s trademark brand of action cinema, the news that the “Snatch” and “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” filmmaker was moving into the live-action Disney remake world with this year’s smash hit “Aladdin” might have sounded a bit out of character. What about the next “RocknRolla”? After making over a billion dollars with his Disney foray, Ritchie has teed up his first post-“Aladdin” film, one that puts him back in his classic crime wheelhouse.

Previously known as “Toff Guys” and “Bush,” “The Gentlemen” appears to be vintage Ritchie: a crime thriller with plenty of laughs, a majorly stacked cast, and a few gags that might require a bit of translation across the pond. Per the film’s official synopsis, it “follows American expat Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) who built a highly profitable marijuana empire in London. When word gets out that he’s

‘Aladdin’ Footage of Will Smith’s Singing Genie Divides CinemaCon: ‘It Is Pure Nightmare Fuel’

One of the biggest question marks going into Disney’s CinemaCon presentation was what the studio was going to do in order to win over “Aladdin” skeptics. The upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s 1992 animated film has been something of a critical punching bag since the first footage of Will Smith as the blue CGI Genie debuted in February. While an official trailer released in March provided a better look at the VFX used to turn Smith into the genie, the actor’s human look as the character and the film’s artificial sets drew more criticism.

Aladdin” is one of Disney’s big summer tentpole releases, and more pressure has been added to the film in the wake of the middling critical response and box office for Tim Burton’s “Dumbo.” CinemaCon was the perfect place for Disney to start turning the critical tides in favor of “Aladdin,” and the studio did not succeed.

Shazam! Confronts His One True Nemesis In New HD Photo

Few big-time actors have played the villain quite as often as Mark Strong, whose performances across Sherlock Holmes, Sharpe’s Mission and even Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla have made him a bankable favorite amongst Hollywood studios in search of a scenery-chewing baddie. Which brings us to Shazam!

For in this one, Strong is on board to play Doctor Thaddeus Sivana, a crooked scientist driven mad by jealousy. You see, long before Billy Batson gained control of those abilities, Sivana believed he himself was worthy of Shazam’s god-like power, thereby seeding a great rivalry between the two titans.

Mind you, considering Billy Batson is really a young, wide-eyed kid deep down inside, Zachary Levi’s performance has been imbued with a child-like sense of wonder and curiosity, as can be seen in this newly-unveiled image from Empire Magazine. Embedded below, it sees Billy Batson confront Sivana as Shazam.
