In this film, the main character Muriel is also an overweight young adult living with her parents - obsessed with Abba. Mary's voice actress, Toni Collette also played the part of Muriel.
Harvie Krumpet (2003) (Short)
When Max buys ink for his typewriter you hear, presumably, the sales clerk say "thank you" in a raspy voice. This is the same sound clip used in Harvie Krumpet when he says thank you to the old woman in the old folks home. Adam Elliot is the creator of both Harvie Krumpet and Mary and Max.
