Anthony Mackie Says He Won’t Be The New Captain America

The upcoming Disney Plus series from Marvel Studios, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, was the talk of D23 last night, and while the crowds were certainly excited for the upcoming show, there was one question that kept popping up: who will be the next Captain America?

It’s one of the bigger mysteries surrounding the series, as Avengers: Endgame ended with an elderly Steve Rogers showing up after his younger self seemingly got lost in the past to hand off the shield to his partner and friend, Sam Wilson.

The seeds were clearly planted and this ending was meant as a signal to audiences that the Falcon was going to transition into everyone’s favorite super soldier. There’s a precedent for this change as well, as Sam Wilson picks up the mantle in the comic books. The run on the publishing side was a little hit or miss

Marvel Announces New Spider-Man Animated Series For Disney Junior Amid Rift With Sony Over Film Franchise

  • Deadline
Well, this is awkward timing.

Set to debut in 2021, it marks the first full-length Marvel series for Disney Junior.

The news comes at the end of a tumultuous week for the Spider-Man live-action movie franchise. As Deadline first reported, a standoff between Sony and Marvel/Disney has led to Marvel chief Kevin Feige exiting the Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and a looming exit of Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Preschool kids already love Spidey, so they’ll be delighted to have Peter Parker thwipping across their screens in this new series” Cort Lane, Svp, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment, said in the announcement of the new series.

Disney Rumored To Be Making New Deal For Spider-Man To Appear In Avengers 5

The repercussions of Sony taking back the Spider-Man franchise from Disney continue to rock the McU and its massive fanbase. Amid growing outrage over the hero’s proposed exit and fears of fan-favorite Tom Holland being replaced for a Sony reboot of the web-slinger though, Disney’s reportedly busy negotiating a deal to preserve Spidey’s existence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to the Lords of the Long Box YouTube channel, the Mouse House has apparently put together a new deal that would keep Spider-Man in the McU. An important part of this proposal would be having him appear in the next two Avengers movies, though it would also allow for him to feature in at least six more films, with an option for a seventh.

While far from confirmed, this certainly makes sense, as Spider-Man was rumored to have a much bigger role in the next Avengers, conceivably in a leader-type position,

Jon Favreau Talks His Acting Future and Says His Favorite Acting Gig So Far is Spider-man: Far From Home

In a recent interview with THR, Jon Favreau got to talking all about his upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, and also had a lot to say about directing, acting, food, and more. While he has kept one foot in the directing and acting camps over the years, the films and series he has been directing have seemed to be bigger in scale that the acting projects he has taken on. So the interviewer asked him if he intended on continuing to pick up acting roles, since Iron Man and The Avengers are done for now. Favreau responded by saying:

Oh sure, I love doing that. And I learn because I get to be on other peoples' sets. When I get to see the Russo brothers direct, it's great. When I get to be on Jon Watts' set for Spider-Man, I had more fun in his last Spider-Man

New Details on What Went Down Between Disney and Sony and How Sony Feels They Don't Need Marvel Anymore

There are a lot of emotions involved when it comes to the Spider-Man situation. Everyone is on board with Tom Holland being the web slinger, now that we have that, where do we go from here? No one really knows what happened or how we got here. Little bits of information have been leaking out, THR has been able to catch some pieces and bring them to us. This is how this all went down:

Disney had been seeking a co-financing arrangement on upcoming movies, looking for at least a 30 percent stake. Sony, which counts Spider-Man as one of its only reliable moneymaking franchises, said no. Before both sides walked away, talks had gone to the top level, with Rothman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra on Sony’s side and Disney Studios' co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman involved. In the next month and a half, Far From Home would

Marvel's Avengers Game: Main Villains Revealed

Rob Leane Aug 22, 2019

Get ready to go up against A.I.M.'s hi-tech robots in a world that isn't big on The Avengers anymore...

Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, and Eidos Montreal have lifted the lid on their upcoming Marvel's Avengers, with the first open-to-the-public demos taking place at Gamescom in Cologne this week. Den of Geek went along to the event, tried out the demo, and went behind the scenes to watch a presentation from the developers. From this, we learned that the main villains in the game will be Advanced Idea Mechanics, better known as A.I.M.

A familiar foe to fans of the comics and anyone that saw Iron Man 3, A.I.M. is an organization comprised of brilliant scientists with evil intentions. Villains like Modok, Baron Strucker, and Taskmaster have all been affiliated with A.I.M. in the comics. In fact, Taskmaster is confirmed to appear in the game.

Hulk Almost Had a Very Different Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame

Hulk Almost Had a Very Different Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame
Hulk almost had a different scene involving the Time Stone in Avengers: Endgame. A large part of the final Avengers movie in the Infinity Gems saga involved a time heist, where the heroes used time travelling devices invented by Tony Stark to jump to different points in time in the past to retrieve the infinity stones before Thanos ever got his hands on them to create their own infinity gauntlet.

The scenes involving the various time heists featured a vast array of past and present McU side characters, some of them interacting perhaps for the last time with the heroes, like Thor having a touching final scene with his mother Frigga, who is dead in the current timeline.

Perhaps the least interesting of the time heists involved The Hulk travelling to the past to recover the time stone from the sanctum of Dr. Strange's mentor, The Ancient One. Hulk

How the McU Was Made: ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and How Marvel Rebooted Its Own Franchise

Marvel Studios isn’t necessarily keen on dwelling on—or even admitting, really—mistakes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe had a couple of creative missteps early on with the troubled productions of The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, but instead of harping on what went wrong, they quietly applied what they learned in making those movies to their future films. But after Avengers: Age of Ultron, there was still one major character who felt a little ill-defined: Thor. In Thor he’s a Shakespearean figure; in The Avengers he’s a concerned brother with a surprising knack for quips; …

McU Spider-Man No More! Disney and Sony fail to reach new Spider-Man deal

Well, here’s the news that fans of the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man have been dreading… after steering the franchise to its highest-grossing instalment – and indeed, Sony’s biggest movie of all-time – with Spider-Man: Far From Home, Disney and Sony have failed to reach a deal to continue sharing the web-slinger and Marvel Studios will no longer have any involvement with future Spider-Man movies.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige was reportedly sidelined during a dispute between Disney and Sony, with Sony said to have turned down a deal which would have seen a 50/50 financing deal between the two studios. Sony is said to have wanted to continue with the terms of the current deal, with around 5% of the first dollar gross going to Marvel, and weren’t prepared to budge on negotiations.

As a result, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige will no longer be involved with future Spider-Man movies,

Marvel Abandons ‘Spider-Man’ Films in Dispute With Sony

  • The Wrap
The successful partnership between Disney’s Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures on the “Spider-Man” films has come to an end: Marvel has bailed out on the arrangement in a dispute over financing future films, an insider told TheWrap.

The arrangement had been beneficial to both parties. “Spider-Man: Far From Home” released last month, is the most successful Sony film and the most successful “Spider-Man” film in terms of box office.

A Sony spokesperson said late Tuesday that the decision involved Disney opting not to have Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who oversees the Marvel Cinematic Universe, spend time on Spider-Man.

‘The Simpsons’ Poke Fun at Disney’s Latest Back-Patting ‘Corporate Twitter Stunt’

As if we needed one more reminder that Disney now owns nearly all of the entertainment industry, the company flexed on Twitter in a massive crossover thread that rubbed some the wrong way — including, jokingly at least, one of its own new properties. Celebrating Monday’s announcement about the international rollout plans for Disney+, the company’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service, Disney engaged in a winking conversation with itself across multiple Twitter accounts. The thread involved accounts for Disney, Pixar, National Geographic, “Star Wars,” Marvel, “The Avengers,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and “The Simpsons.”

After replying to itself from its various properties, Disney patted itself on the back, tweeting: “It’s barely 9:00 am and we already found Dory, assembled the @Avengers, and got @StarWars and @Marvel to tweet at each other. Nbd just the most ambitious crossover event in history.”

To which “The Simpsons” account replied, in its most Comic Book Guy voice: “Worst.
