Storyline

There's feudin', fussin' and a whole lot of good ol' fashioned fun goin' on as those back woods rascals, Barney Google and Snuffy Smith, rustle up a rib-ticklin' tub of mountain mirth. Barney and Snuffy are joined by the craziest collection of cantankerous characters ever to come out of them thar' hills, including Loweezy, Jughaid and Jerky Jockey for hours of down home country comedy.

Fun Show of Shorts

BCI Eclipse as part of their deal with Hearst Entertainment and Entertainment Rights, has released a 2DVD set of King Features cartoons called, Animated All Stars.

In addition to 2 half hours of Cool McCool and 20 episodes of Beetle Bailey, it also includes 20 episodes of Snuffy Smith and Barney Google.

Before I watched the episodes, I didn't remember the characters, but it didn't take long for it all to come back to me. The cartoon succeeds in mimicking the style and feel of the comic strip. Very Enjoyable.

Like Lil Abner, Snuffy Smith and friends are Hillbillies. Shotguns, Swamp Living, and the whole 9 yards. It is my guess that there would have been no Beverly Hillbillies with out Lil Abner and Snuffy Smith.

The Episodes on the DVD are: The Master - Snuffy Runs the Gamut - Pie in the Sky - Barney's Blarney - Barney Deals the Cars - The Country Club Smiths - Ain't it the Tooth - Jughaid the Magician - Glove thy Neighbor - Jughaid's Jumpin' Frog - Getting Snuffy's Goat - Rip Van Snuffy - Just Plain Kinfolk - Keeping up with the Joneses - Settin' and a-Frettin' - Jughaid for President - Little Red Jughaid - My Kingdom for a Horse - The Tourist Trap - It's Better to Give (Christmas Show)
