Louis Leterrier is a big fan of Saint Seiya", an anime series about an army of warriors who possess celestial armour (inspired by Zodiac/Greco-Roman mythology). Leterrier incorporated the show's divine armour into the film (the glowing armour worn by the gods), and commissioned the series creator Masami Kurumada to design the Japanese posters for the film.
