When You Come To The End Of The Trail
6 September 2013 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

Wagon Train's next to last season ended with this episode as it ends while John McIntire gazes at the Pacific Ocean and contemplates next year's trip across the plains.

A whole lot of small stories are told in this episode. Tom Skerrit's wife is having a C-section birth and it's up to Dr. Joe DeSantis to deliver the baby. Young Tim McIntire and Valora Noland who is DeSantis's daughter are young and in love. And a pair of western veterans Myron Healey and Lane Bradford let get a friendly rivalry way out of hand.

Most poignant of all is a dying J. Patrick O'Malley who only wants to see the Pacific before he makes another and bigger trip. His scenes with McIntire are special.

No overall story here, but several nice frontier vignettes.
