When a small-time hoodlum is apparently killed by Eliot Ness during a raid, the man's teenage son, Nicky Bousso, tries to kill him. Ness realizes that Nicky is no hood and tries to be nice, but the kid is persistent. When ballistics confirm that the man was killed before the raid took place, Nicky thinks Ness is just making it up. Nicky gets a job cleaning cars at his father's former place of work, a taxi company owned by Gus Marco. Unbeknown to Nicky, Marco is a major hoodlum and his father was in fact a hood. He is soon faced with the choice of following in his father's footsteps or helping out Ness and the Feds. Written by garykmcd

Hired gun from Chicago, Charlie Steuben, is waiting in his hotel room for Ness to back off his tight surveillance. Steuben is throwing darts at a hand-drawn target on his door. Just before he tells his girl to leave, he throws a dart that sticks near the edge of the third ring from the center. As the girl leaves, he throws another dart but the first dart on the door is now just outside the bulls-eye center. The second dart hits near it so that both darts are now at the bulls eye when the scene ends. See more »

Elliott Ness...the social worker!
29 January 2016 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

Early in the episode, Ness is in a shootout and he appears to have shot some small-time hood. As a result, the hood's son, Nicky, comes gunning for Ness and is caught. But Ness is in a charitable mood and wants to help the kid so he asks the judge for leniency. However, in a twist, later in the show you learn that Gus, the man who hired the dead man, had the guy killed...and Ness shot an already dead man!! How can Ness use this information to bring down the mob?

This episode benefits from having good guest stars--Luther Adler, Michael Ansara and Joe De Santis. All were excellent actors and excellent heavies. The story also is unusual enough that it made this an excellent viewing experience.

By the way, in a funny mistake, Ness and one of his guys are trying to get into a room in which some thug is waiting. The thug fires ONE shot at the door...and if you look closely, there are TWO holes!
