This episode marks the second of two UFO appearances by Anglo-Australian actor Tom Oliver, who plays the SHADO technician who drills into the alien transport capsule. It is also one of the four appearances by Italian actor Gito Santana, who plays the alien. Although only credited by name in two of his appearances, in one sense Santana became the "face" of the series, thanks to the fact that he played an alien in the pilot episode. His face is seen in closeup in the opening shot of the title sequence, showing the alien's contact lens being removed. See more »
The tank cutter used by the tech (Tom Oliver) to make a hole in the alien container only has a cutting depth of about 1 inch, but when it is removed to take out the cut core, the removed core is at least 4-5 inches in length. See more »
An alien craft lands on Earth as SHADO is unable to shoot it down.
It lands in the country estate of wealthy show jumper Russell Stone (Michael Jayston.) The animals are acting strangely, SHADO wants to locate the alien. Russell Stone blames some hippy vagrant for frighting the horses and trespassing on his property but he is later found dead.
The alien might be responsible for killing hippy and looking to harvest Stone who has been abducted.
Foster gets to flirt with Stone's sister Anne has he comes around looking for the alien at the bottom of a lake.
There is some good model work but it is a functional episode. It has a creepy atmosphere seeing the Stone family and the animals in peril. Just a shame that Russell is such a stuck up cold fish. The bonus is seeing Anne in some kind of plastic red dress.
