Storyline

With Ben Horne in jail for Laura Palmer's murder, Jerry tries to arrange a defense for him. Cooper doubts Ben's guilt, but Truman thinks otherwise. Pete later visits Ben with a taunting audio message from Catherine saying that she only will back up his alibi if he surrenders all his property over to her. Elsewhere, the real killer, Leland (under the direction of Bob) stuffs the dead Maddie Ferguson in his golf bag and goes for a joyride, and leaving evidence to implicate Ben. Meanwhile, Norma's estranged mother Vivian Smythe, arrives for a visit with her new husband Ernie Niles, while Hank reappears after being gone for several days and reveals to have known Ernie from time in prison. Lucy arrives back in Twin Peaks with her visiting, equally simpleton older sister, Gwen Morton, where Andy tells Lucy he wants to get back together with her. Also, the one-armed man attempts to escape from police custody with a warning that Bob is nearby. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

At about 24 minutes into the episode, Harry and Pete spy on a woodpecker and behind them is a framed portrait of President Harry S Truman. Our character Harry and the President share the same exact name. See more »

Goofs

When Sheriff Truman takes Ben into custody, Cooper says he does not believe Ben is guilty. Sheriff Truman contradicts this, saying he has the evidence to detain him. However, as a federal agent, Cooper outranks Sheriff Truman and he is in charge of the investigation, so he should not have acquiesced to this. See more »

After an episode that could never be topped, we have some amazing things going on. Ray Wise as Leland Palmer is stunning. First of all, he is out on bail after admitting to the murder of Jacques. Truman and Cooper seem to love the guy and have given him an awful lot of rope. Meanwhile Ben Home resides in jail, based on his connection to One Eyed Jack. It's interesting with all the interest in Laura Palmer that there are numerous other things that could lead to prison: e.g. the kidnapping and drugging of Audrey. We also have some big realizations taking place when the chubby Japanese guy is revealed. We have the continuing saga of Leo, who is in a vegetative state (or is he?). And poor Shelley! She does deserve more, but she is being capsized in some sort of Devil's agreement. Norma's mother shows up with a new husband, but at the end we find out that there is something untoward going on. I don't know where to even start, so I will sit back and enjoy.
