Johnny opens by noting that the show's tapings were cancelled the previous two nights due to the start of Operation Desert Storm in Iraq; much of the monologue consists of jokes about the Gulf War. The comedy segment is new products predicted for the next 20 years, inspired by the book "Future Stuff" that predicts items to be available in the year 2000. The ones Johnny reads from the book have not come to pass. Then come the ones created by the writers, with illustrative props. As he goes through the props, Johnny keeps a running tally on what was spent to create them. Dyan Cannon comes out and quickly gets giggly, as she tends to do with Johnny. They talk about relationships and marriage and divorce (she is separating from her husband), and she explains how she wrote the movie "The End of Innocence" about how men and women fail to communicate.
