Someone trying to kill Lisa Jericho, a reporter who is relentless in her pursuit of the truth and a friend of Hooker. They try to make it appear that one of the persons she was writing about was the target but failed. Hooker senses this and tries to find out who has it in for her. Written by rcs0411@yahoo.com
Opinionated newspaper columnist Lisa Jericho (Helen Shaver) dines with her boyfriend veteran cop Sgt. T.J.Hooker (William Shatner) at an Italian restaurant in downtown whatever-the-city on this show was supposed to be. She isn't too popular with cops after writing a scathing column for the city's biggest daily newspaper - the Sun Telegraph about a major division of the local police force.
Gunshots ring out through the restaurant window from across the street and appear to have been meant for her though it is another patron - a mafioso, who dies. Hooker is unable to collar the assailants who disappear in a speeding car. Her work exposing organized crime ties to a shady builder has not gone unnoticed though she has yet to file the column which will tie it all together. But she has also rubbed a lot of other people the wrong way.
Helen Shaver and William Shatner are two of Canada's most famous actors. Their scenes together in this constitute covert Canadian content of the kind Canadians had to content ourselves with way back when - i.e. two of our icons happening to get cast opposite each other though the characters they are playing are almost certainly American born and bred.
In addition to the intriguing cast of guest-stars which included Nicholas Coaster, Luke Askew, Eugene Glazer and Daphne Maxwell we also got to see more of the never specified city (looking suspiciously like Long Beach) Hooker and his colleagues served and protected. Here a newspaper office, a building site, a supply warehouse, a pierside carnival midway and a cozy bistro are simulated.
I wouldn't mention it at all if the show had done a better job giving viewers a variety of locations to illustrate a greater depth to the setting in other episodes. For most of the series the same places were shown. Much of the action each episode would occur at the Academy Precinct. Sometimes the cops would go for a drink together at the same bar - Sherry's. Few other locations would be presented in each episode. This episode shows us lots of different places.
