Ensign Ro Laren is welcomed back with a party after advanced tactical training. Almost immediately she's picked as best suited for an undercover mission in the demilitarized zone, to prevent the peace treaty with the Cardassians being undermined by illegally attacking Federation 'Maquis' ships. Given her ethnic and personal background, the conflict of loyalties grows as her covert mission to trap the resistance fighters succeeds.

The Bajoran dish "hasperat" that Ro served to Macias was actually a large burrito, stuffed with sour cream, seasonings meats and vegetables. It has become something of a running gag among most science fiction shows that some foods, despite unique names, as well as minor differences in ingredients & preparation, are virtually identical among disparate species. In Babylon 5 for example, Breen is a Narn delicacy that is almost indistinguishable from the Earth dish Swedish Meatballs, a fact commented upon by a Narn ship captain who legitimately believed it was Breen when served to him by the Narn ambassador to Babylon 5. Roe in the bar he tells her that there is only going to be six ships in the convoy and they could cut that number down if they had to but later when Data is talking Capt. Picard he says, "this is the convoy," and the camera changes to view the Long Range Scan 0128 and there thirteen objects with labels, nine white and four blue moving on the screen. See more
