Virginia Field and Sandra Knight
5 August 2016 | by kevinolzakSee all my reviews

"The Actress" was an example of the popular stage performers out west that so many TV Westerns indulged. Vincent Price and Patricia Morison were a husband and wife team on Richard Boone's HAVE GUN - WILL TRAVEL, while John Carradine's thespian background served him well as actors on John Payne's THE RESTLESS GUN and John Russell's LAWMAN. Here, veteran Virginia Field was cast as Miss Lotta Langley, in town to play Lady Macbeth at the local saloon, with the reluctant but game Johnny Yuma in support. Traveling with Lotta is young Ruth Revere (Sandra Knight, previously seen in "The Death of Gray"), who performs a secondary role opposite Yuma on stage. Despite several curtain calls Lotta refuses to part with any money for the destitute Yuma, while all three are kidnapped by an alcoholic father (Vic Perrin) who simply wants them to perform for his ailing little girl. Lotta is dead set against any kind of performance at gunpoint, but after she learns that the child was named after her, she changes her tune.
