Storyline

A mysterious Irish prizefighter, Jeremiah, takes a shine to Rowdy and lets him win the fight by allowing Rowdy to last five rounds with him. He then joins the trail drive as it is headed in the direction he planned to go - toward some sacred Indian lands rumored to contain a buried treasure hoard. Jeremiah is carrying a heavy object in a sack, which is later revealed to be a gravestone. Further adding to the mystery is that he is also in possession of a rare golden religious artifact, the kind that Indians were forced to make years ago for Spanish masters. A truly sad tale
23 July 2016 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

British actor Bill Travers guest stars in this Rawhide episode as an Irish prizefighter taking on all comers on the way west. After a bout with Clint Eastwood, Travers gets signed as a drover to go as far as a place where he once mined for gold. But some nasty Indians view that land as sacred.

This was a truly sad tale and unusual in that Travers with an adopted Irish brogue narrates the story with some Irish whimsy thrown in as well. He's on a mission all right but it's nothing to do with the fabled riches that might be there. Those fabled riches that are giving Eric Fleming's drovers gold fever.

No Travers is on one sad mission indeed. This is fine Rawhide episode and a fine performance from Bill Travers.
