Quotes

Charlie Salinger: I know you feel alone in this, Julia, but you're not. You're not the first one to ever make this decision. Something like a million women every year...
Julia Salinger: I know the statistics, Charlie. Thanks.
Charlie Salinger: I went with a girlfriend once to get one. In college.
Julia Salinger: You did?
Charlie Salinger: Yeah. Debra... Debra. Debra Lots of Bracelets Debra.
[laughs]
Charlie Salinger: We didn't talk much beforehand about the decision. I mean, it just made sense for both of us. We weren't even 20 and it's not like we were in love with each other or anything. So I ...

Emotionally mature episode
5 July 2017 | by jamarianaSee all my reviews

Julia confirms the worst nightmare of her teenage life - she's pregnant. Oh, sure, big deal right? Well, yes, huge deal. If you've ever experienced it - being a teenage girl with an unplanned pregnancy and a very uncertain future ahead - you'd know exactly how Julia feels. It is dramatic, life-changing (no matter which outcome she chooses, going through with the pregnancy or having an abortion), and so intensely emotional. This episode does Julia's ordeal a great justice. Not only acting wise, but writing wise. Julia is not certain whether or not she should go through with an abortion, but everyone else seems to have an answer.

Sarah doesn't agree because she, herself, was a child of adoption and if her birth mother had gone through with an abortion, obviously she wouldn't have been alive. Every male in Julia's life tells her it is the best course of action to get an abortion, but they try to be as gentle and understanding as they can about the situation. Justin tries to share the burden with Julia, but of course he cannot possibly feel the same way as Julia because it is her body that is experiencing the pregnancy.

This episode of Party of Five is very sexually mature and details the consequences of sex, both protected and unprotected, to an audience that undoubtedly were having sexual relations and problems of their very own. It is well worth a 10 star rating.
