Storyline

Joshua Hayward is a single parent who has his hands full with his daughter Sarah who wants to elope with her motorcycle driving boyfriend. They wake up one morning to find that there is no electricity, water or telephone service. When Joshua tries to leave their suburban neighborhood, he finds their way is blocked by an electrical field of some kind. Sarah has plans to run off but she meets an alien creature who is dying and she too is infected. Joshua eventually learns the truth: their entire neighborhood has been carried off to a distant planet to see if humans would be suitable as slave labor. For Joshua, there is only one course of action available to the survivors. Written by garykmcd

Could We Rise to This Challenge to Our Lives?
20 May 2014 | by HitchcocSee all my reviews

I remember the original. A man realizes that the neighborhood in which he lives is suddenly closed in, a la "Under the Dome." He and his daughter are somewhat estranged. She runs off and he goes to look for her. All the power and water and other services have stopped functioning and panic ensues. The neighbors are seen as selfish and only interested in their own little worlds, refusing to help each other with basic needs (important plot element). One of the neighborhood men is pulled through the wall and experimented upon. He later returns, telling them that the people behind the wall are really benevolent and they just need to go along with their plans. Meanwhile, the daughter encounters an alien who takes her to see the other side. On it are his parents and others who have been enslaved and who are dying of a terrible disease. It turns out that the aliens are interested in enslaving the earth population. What happens later is what the episode is ultimately about.
