Phelps returns to his hometown to take care of some family business and to reunite with his childhood friends. Unfortunately, the happy occasion is short lived as several of the women in his childhood circle of friends have been murdered. Jim eventually decides to call in the IMF to help him investigate. At first they think that it is an emotionally disturbed Vietnam vet who several of the ladies wrote letters to. However, the suspect eventually turns out to be someone that no one ever expected.

When the car driven by Connie Hastings (Sharon Acker
) is stopped by a flat tire in the teaser, the license plate on the vehicle is shown in close-up, and it is not a real California plate. Although it has the same color (yellow characters on a blue background) and letter-number combination (a group of three of each) of a real plate, the characters on the plate are flat, not stamped into metal, it does not say "California" on top, and it lacks the tabs at the top left and right corners for the month and year of the car's registration.
