Storyline

The wife of a wealthy industrialist disappears from their sailboat off the coast of Mexico, and he initially hires Mannix to learn how she disappeared (and partly because he knows that a husband is usually the primary suspect in the disappearance of a wife). Then his wife is found, apparently safe, in a small village in Mexico. But after she returns to California, Mannix -- with Art Malcolm's help -- learns some disturbing information about her past, which suggests that she might know more about her disappearance than she is willing to admit. Trivia

First appearance of a Hughes (MD) 500D (model 369) helicopter on Mannix. This same helicopter (N9014F) has had appearances in Airwolf (1984) and Magnum, P.I. (1980) and several other productions at times with different paint schemes. See more »

Goofs

Mannix is told that the orphanage where Gina Hunter lived as a child had a statue of "St. Francis of Assisi" in the front. In the establishing shot of what is supposed to be the orphanage, however, the shot actually depicts what is clearly a statue of Jesus, not St. Francis, with his arms outstretched; St. Francis is usually depicted wearing a monk's cassock, not the kind of robes on the statue shown here. (The shot of the statue, including the children running past it, is actually recycled from the Season 5 premiere, Mannix: Dark So Early, Dark So Long. See more »

Quotes

Wallace Hunter: Thank you for coming so promptly.
Joe Mannix: What can I do for you, Mr. Hunter?
Wallace Hunter: Did you read about my wife?
Joe Mannix: Yes.
Wallace Hunter: I want you to find out what happened to her.
Joe Mannix: What do the police think?
Wallace Hunter: [sighs] Yes, well... they have two theories. Either... either she fell off the boat accidentally, or I pushed her off. The second theory was unspoken, but it was quite obviously in their minds. It happens, apparently.
Joe Mannix: What do you think happened to her?
Wallace Hunter: I'm totally confused. We were off the coast of Mexico- Baja. One minute, ...
