Storyline

A petty officer in the US Navy (a machinist's mate third-class) serves on overseas duty in a fictitious Arabic nation with an Islamic society. He and a local girl fall in love with each other. The sailor smuggles the girl into the USA and then marries her. The girl turns out to be a princess in the ruling family in her country. The INS, at the behest of the royal family, captures the princess and places her in custody. Legal fireworks ensue about the status of the princess. In a court-martial Bud prosecutes the sailor, and Harm defends him; Mac represents the princess (even in an Islamic tribunal in Arlington). RAdm. Chegwidden continues to meet frustration over Dr. Walden, her son, and his impounded car. Harriet unexpectedly goes into labor, and Bud presents some tragic news to the admiral. Goofs

The reduction in rate of PO Eling to Seaman (SN) is incorrect. His rating was a Machinist's Mate. This is one of the engineering ratings. The correct reduction would be to Fireman (FN) which would be designated by three red stripes, not white. Also, he would probably have been allowed to be designated as a MM striker and he would have had the MM insignia, a ship's screw, above the three stripes of a FN. See more »

Quotes

[Danny's actions have caused Chegwidden to lose his car and Dr. Walden]
Admiral Albert Jethro 'A.J.' Chegwidden: You screwed with me. I don't care about that so much, but you're preventing your mother from truly being happy and you ought to be *ashamed of yourself*!
Danny Walden: Hey! She IS happy. And I'M happy! It's not our job to make YOU happy!
Danny Walden: [as Chegwidden walks away] Enjoy the rental car.
Admiral Albert Jethro 'A.J.' Chegwidden: [menacingly] I'll be sending you the bill... BOY!
