Storyline

Bing is the MC in this special Christmas themed-episode. The highlight is the appearance of the cast of Hogan's Heroes, which was produced by Crosby's own company. The low point is when a duet of faux Nazis Werner Klemperer and John Banner sing "Silent Night" in the original German. Also: a clown does an act where he's broken into three midgets, and a dog act where the dog won't co-operate. Written by WesternOne

This was a fine ep of "The Hollywood Palace" starring Bing Crosby and the cast of "Hogan's Heroes"

This edition of "The Hollywood Palace" was hosted by Bing Crosby. It aired on Christmas Day, 1965. After Bing sings, there's a midget act. He then intros and then sings with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians. Then the cast of "Hogan's Heroes" arrives in costume and character which is a bit unusual since while Bing owns the show, the cast are guesting on an ABC show-not one on their actual network: CBS! Then Bing intros Dorothy Collins-a singer who was formerly on "Your Hit Parade". After her solo, she and Bing duet on "Glow Worm". Second half hour begins with a dog act in which the dog mostly does nothing while having a deadpan face as his "master" keeps trying to get him to jump on the table while being enthusiastic the whole time! After that, Waring and the Pennsylvanians perform "The 12 Days of Christmas" before we segue to first John Banner and Werner Klemperer doing the original German version of "Silent Night" and then Robert Clary does his French carol. Finally, Bing brings his pre-teen son, Harry Lillis III, on stage and has him sing something before Bing does his trademark Christmas song, "White Christmas". All I'll say now is this was such a fine holiday ep of "The Hollywood Palace" to watch and I highly recommend it for fans of both Der Bingle and "Hogan's Heroes".
