As the Cannons prepare to receive Don Sebastian at the ranch, they receive word he is dying from a bullet wound. He was shot in a holdup and his lion head ring was stolen. They go to the Montoya ranch where Montoya asks Manolito to wed Anita de Santiago y Amistad and Big John to sign a document that would put his ranch under the same control as Montoya's and Anita's family ranch. Montoya is dying but when he falls out of bed, it dislodges the bullet allowing him to heal. Not wanting to lose the chance to control the three ranches, he continues the charade. Upon meeting Anita, Manolita is taken by her beauty but turned off by her demands. Meanwhile, locals catch a woodcutter who has the stolen ring who says he bought it from two men. Buck, Blue and Joe follow him to catch the men they believe are involved while Manolito returns to the hacienda only to catch his father out of bed and obviously recovering.
