Routine TV ep.
4 December 2013 | by MozjoukineSee all my reviews

One of the better episodes of this thoroughly routine sixties British TV cop series.

The honour of the regiment is at stake when it's antique silver goes missing. Gregson of the Yard is called upon to resolve the matter without besmirching the outfit's reputation and spends the episode talking to quite an impressive selection of British character actors - notably Finlay Currie and Gordon Jackson. The budget even runs to a loyalty toast with kilted officers and piper. The only intriguing element is that the dodgy characters, ever snotty Alan Cuthbertson and smarmy Pickering, are vindicated and the sympathetic officer has to take his toothbrush to the lock up.

The series leads are unable to animate their stock police heroes. They don't figure in those locating scenics pulled from library.
