You've never seen Boyer like this.

It's always interesting to see familiar actors playing against type. Most of the time they play variations on their 'brand' but the story is usually more different. This is much different. Charles Boyer is the definition of suave and sophisticated. And this is what I came to expect in this production - I was wrong. It is Boyer in a mirror darkly. It's so good that I won't say more about the character he plays. The story and the other actors play well although a bit too high-handed. But this was produced in the midst of the Korean War so it's very much expected. Just watch Mr. Boyer's performance and you may start to think how much better a James Bond villain could be with him as one. Don't believe me? Well don't make up your mind until you've seen especially the final minute. Oh how could that have gotten by the censor's of the time! It really is Boyer as you've never seen him.
