Did You Know?

By the end of this, the series' fifth season, the makers of Dynasty came to realize that millions of the show's most devoted fans were watching it to laugh at its over-the-top characters, plotlines, costumes and dialogue. When the producers decided to embrace this truth and deliberately "play to it" (which they were clearly doing in this and subsequent episodes) it proved to be a fatal mistake - now that many of the laughable elements were intended to be funny, snickering at them was no longer as enjoyable, and Dynasty's ratings began to decline. Heather Locklear the most beautiful creature in the entire universe
7 February 2016 | by RavenGlamDVDCollectorSee all my reviews

Forget the Royal Wedding. Forget the Moldavian massacre. We all know the first-billed regular characters will survive, it will be decimation among the second-ranks.

I only have eyes for Heather Locklear. I wonder what the others in the cast thought way back then? It's obvious Heather is the star. While Catherine looks great as well, she plays the sullen, mostly unsure Amanda, so Heather, as Sammy Jo, has the plum part. The plummest part on TV at the time.

I longed to see DYNASTY way back then, but had no reception, the Dark Ages that were the good old days. I knew Heather Locklear as the girl in T.J. HOOKER, Stacey Sheridan, the Captain's daughter. I had limited access to that as well, but I had no idea of just exactly to what extent Heather Locklear was actually wasting her time. She should have been a regular main cast every-episode full- blooded DYNASTY star, screw T.j. HOOKER. If you'd look at total junk like RETURN OF THE SWAMP THING, Heather exudes too much class to ever slum around in drivel like that dreck. I do not know much about the later seasons of T.j. HOOKER, but downloaded snippets that show embarrassingly bad sequences of Heather being wasted in scenes that are way beneath her status, and she looks like a fish out of water. I remain a fan of that show as well, but only because of her involvement...

I would just like to say, the way Heather looks in this episode, she has reached the zenith. If she gets any prettier, it wouldn't be good for my personal well-being. She is, like, so beautiful, she needs a license to walk around looking that beautiful. And that is meant as the highest compliment I could give...

ALl of this, is of course years ago. The harsh reality? The very next day I watched her in MELROSE PLACE "Cahuenga" (2009, two dozen years later)and that sure spoils everything. It's terrible what the ravages of time can do, even if (and perhaps because of) that terrible thing that is Botox is brought into play.

But there was a time when that girl was the most beautiful living thing in the known existence. And she famously held on to her beauty through seven seasons of the original MELROSE PLACE, so much so that I read jocular reports of that being credited to drinking the blood of young virgins.

It is my opinion that if only time could have been kinder, popular TV shows, FRIENDS for instance, would still have been around. And if only beauty was indeed more than skin deep, and everlasting, there'd have been no need for beauty pageants anymore, Heather Locklear would have trumped all comers!

The picture accompanying this entry shows Heather in her cute glory. Look at it and look at the greatest achievement of the universe. I think it took something like 4 500 000 000 years of evolution to do that. The saddest thing is that it is unlikely to occur again. Perfection is unattainable.
