Intimidated witness
21 February 2016 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

Checkmate takes this case of an intimidated witness as a favor to their friend police lieutenant Ken Lynch. The witness in this case is Jane Wyman who had quite a view of a mob hit and the guy who did it. She testifies at the trial and he's duly convicted.

But that's where the story starts as a certain psychological warfare is used on Wyman. She has one very brittle psyche and we never really know whether the folks who ordered the hit did some research into her background.

Whether they did or didn't Wyman gives a great performance as Ms. Josephine Citizen who pays dear for being a good citizen. This plot gambit about making a witness think they're losing it and damage their credibility has been used a lot. Usually though it's during the trial.

Nevertheless Jane Wyman registers well as the intimidate witness who starts questioning her sanity.
