The agency is hired by Charlie's old friend Cal Jeffers, a sheriff in a small town in the Tennessee mountains, to locate his son Seth Jeffers who has been missing for a week. Seth came to Los Angeles to try and find his fiancée, Bess Hemsdale, an aspiring singer/songwriter, albeit an illiterate one, who had come to the city months ago to try and make it big in the music business. All the Angels and Bosley have to go on are the few items left in Seth's hotel room, including the cassette recordings Bess sent to Seth as her "letters" home, and a ticket stub to the Starbrite, a porno theater. In following those two leads, the Angels discover that Bess has become a porno star, her producer, Joe Willis, who probably lured her into believing it would be her big break. They also believe that Joe may have killed Seth to protect his investment in Bess.
