Finding Gatraer's Car
9 July 2019 | by RealChristian14See all my reviews

The last episode of CHiPs in its 6-year run is entitled,"The Return Of Brat Patrol". The story was quite simple. The car of Sgt. Gatraer gets lost and Officers Frank Poncherello and Bobby "Hotdog" Nelson as well as CHIP Cadet Bruce Nelso as well as other CHiP officers try to find the culprit. In the end,we get to see Gatraer's missing car lost and we witness a basketball game between the CHP Brat Patrol - the teen-age group of the CHP who was there of assistance in looking for the missing car - and the LA Explorers. The End.

With that type of story as well as the numerous CHP people looking for the missing car,we already know that CHiPs is in trouble. No wonder it was its last episode and there was no 7th season. I have already implied that the the screenwriters particularly in the 6th season were being creative the wrong way. We get to see many ludicrous stories like aliens being criminals,teen-agers doing CHP work, and having an orangutans being part of the CHP staff as well as having female partners as state patrolmen are a testament to that.Added to that, the constant participation of CHP Cadet Bruce Nelson looks weird as there are other trained CHP officers that are more capable as patrolmen. With stories like these, you know that the show is in trouble. Too bad that they got creative the wrong way.Although the 70's had TV shows that are more into fantasy,CHiPs never adjusted to the 80's when TV shows must be realistic as possible.
